And Zobrist’s total was a reflection of his versatility, as it was inflated by multiple defensive contributions. That off-season, both Cano and Pedroia signed new contracts.     They aren’t going to lose Martinez. The Sox are already prepared to pay him $62mill over the next 3 years, and if he opts out for more years at a lower AAV, they’ll be involved in that,too. The JD Martinez-Dombrowski relationship goes back way too many years and so far, DD seems like the only GM to ever have faith in this guy...
