  1. Eovaldi has given up 6 in 15 innings. 6 ER in 15 innings is a respectable 3.60 ERA. But six home runs?
  2. StatCast apparently had Tellez’ home run at 505 feet? No way. Maybe 405...
  3. Both pitchers will be over 100 pitches before the fifth is over...
  4. Oh it can’t. We should know this by now...
  5. At least they got a big chunk back...
  6. That this team might be worse than that team everyone hated.
  7. Remember the2015 team that caused a front office housecleaning and many fans to scream about the Sox “ace-lacking” rotation? Well after 13 games, that team was 8-5 and in first place by a full game...
  8. That may have been sarcasm
  9. Thankfully the potent offense can take this game back...
  10. I’d say that’s 100% dependent on the pitcher involved, and possibly on the catcher, too. If you have someone on the mound thinking “I’m just going to give the hitter my hardest slider and let the catcher worry about keeping it off thebackstop,” how critical is this relationship? I’m not saying it doesn’t exist, but I do think you might be giving it more credit than need be. Multiple teams switch catcher every year. That doesn’t mean it’s a death nail for the pitching staff...
  11. Not you. You and your ambiguous use of pronouns. So, yeah. You...
  12. Which is how sports team ownership works for (almost?) all major franchises. If Henry, an admitted baseball junkie, is only pocketing $500,000, he probably still enjoys his role...
  13. Yes. Not sure why no one wanted him and it took a season-ending injury to Sal Perez to get him a job. But while he was out there sending resumes, it did increase the likelihood of Leon clearing waivers...
  14. Your use of pronouns lead me to believe you were referring to Leon. I looked up ois fWAR and BABIP for 2016. His fWAR was 2.3, so I assumed you used bWAR and knew what you were talking about...
  15. I imagine some of those impulsive changes are based on game planning somewhat. It is hard to quantify, but how much of it is catcher alone? A lot of planning can change between innings...
  16. Those are salaries, but the increases are smaller. He’s already paying those three $65mill this season while maintaining his $84mill. So his profit margin drops to $66mill for a few years. There will still be food on the table...
  17. Helped by an insanely unsustainable .392 BABIP. No one was buying that offensive output was reproducible. He’s a glove man, and has done nothing to disprove it since then...
  18. I think a lot of the journeyman catchers have gotten adept at building those types of relationships fast enough. It’s become their job to do so, after all.
  19. Wasn’t that a recurring segment on Veggie Tales?
  20. Yeah but I gave higher hopes for Duran. He probably won’t be ready to step in for Bradley right away, but maybe after a one year stopgap CF. Castillo, with one year left after this season, might actually have a shot here...
  21. I think they also like some offense at the catcher spot when money is involved. Defense-only catchers aren’t the most difficult commodity to find...
  22. Tampa is 47-21 (.691) since last July when they were 54-53...
  23. And 0 home wins. I am aware of this...
  24. Not good, but not a death sentence either. It is still based on 4.2IP and a couple clean innings will alter it drastically...
  25. I can believe that. Especially when he was on waivers, Martin Maldonado was still unemployed...
