  1. It’s time to. Weber is winding down his Red Sox career, and, at age 29, isn’t often considered a prospect...
  2. Point?
  3. No, we need you admit you made a mistake and to realize they stopped being the “only team ever” in 1995, long before your statement. Had you said “first team” or “only team at the time,” then your point would be correct. End of story...
  4. The Red Sox once went 86 years with only 4 pennants and no World Series titles...
  5. I'd say 3, as long as we remember Taylor will exceed expectations as a role player...
  6. Maybe it was Porcello himself, because it wasn't working at some point...
  7. I don’t think the timeframe matters as long as they obey anti-tampering rules. Basically any front office person anywhere for whom the Sox role would be a promotion is in play at any time. But if it’s a lateral move, the Sox need permission from the employing team to talk ...
  8. Hey blame Porcello here!! I’ve asked. It’s up to him to answer. Personally it’s good that the 2-seamer has him back on track, but I think I walk away. No way in hell do I want the Sox to sign Porcello and then have to trade Mookie..
  9. Then why do some people want to emulate them? My point is, they draft better because they have more bad seasons leading to good picks. And it’s not just the first round. A high second round pick is equal to a late first rounder, where the Sox typically are. The problem is, fans want the Rays’ farm system without going through the bad seasons. That isn’t going to happen...
  10. ... which is why I opted for the WSC method over 25 years. You might not recognize it, but it actually is a frequent argument of harmony’s when some calls the NL weak or something...
  11. It is hard to find struggling major leaguers on the verge of breaking out, although Cashman did find a few this year. #stanislozolinthedrinkingwater
  12. If you expect 3 impact players per year from your farm, that’s probably way too high of an expectation. Especially since many impact players aren’t immediate impact players. Really in large markets, you just need the farm to hold the fort for minimum wage at first. If they develop into a player’s who are worth paying heavily, even better
  13. Now who’s kidding? 3 per year is a joke. The Sox called up at least four players for MLB debut this year alone (Chavis, Shawaryn, Lakins, Kelley). 3 per season is not a lot...
  14. But you’re wrong. First off, the definition of the word “ever” is “at all times,” and is not limited to the present. And second, as you made your original statement in 2019, both 1996 and 1997 would be considered the past anyway. By your argument, saying “Abraham Lincoln was the most recent US President” is a true statement since it was phrased in the past tense. And hey, in reality it was only negated by future events. But is it true?
  15. No idea. He hasn’t started talking to me about it yet...
  16. The AL West is truly awesome. That’s why they’ve won almost as many World Series titles as the lowly Red Sox since the AL re-aligned with 3 divisions 25 years ago...
  17. You’re kidding, right? Maybe Moncada, Kopech, Allen, Margot, Buttrey, Anderson, Dubon and Quiroz. But why would we want 7 or 8 minimum wage players when we can sign a bunch of free agents and price Mookie’s way out of town..,
  18. The Rays struggle to develop pitchers when they’re drafting at the end of the first round just like the Sox. But the Rays can afford to just plain suck every now and then and get a few draft picks...
  19. A s***** stadium in the middle of nowhere?
  20. And it's also why you need a farm system with good players who don't make any money and why it is unwise to unload them all for highly paid players...
  21. That Gonzalez has double the control but only 1.5 the trade value is a point in ERod’s favor...
  22. And while his peripherals are worse, the changes aren’t exactly catastrophic. His walks are up by .2BB/9IP, or 1 walk for every 45 innings. His strikeouts are down by 0.7K/9IP, or 7 strikeouts per 90IP. His WHIP is up by 0.035, or 7 baserunners per 200 IP. I’ll take all of that considering he stayed healthy all year for once and finally had a season where he should finish close to 200 IP. Also, he’s still only 26...
  23. Yankee fans can never say anything bad about any Yankee prospect. Unless it’s on the tail end of praising 3 other prospects...
  24. I thought you wanted the Sox to go for it one last time in 2020. If 2020 becomes a “lost” season without Sale, the Sox should move Betts ASAP and there is zero point in tendering a contract offer to Bradley...
