  1. Casas? Campbell? Most first basemen do come up playing other positions. Possible we see blocked prospects like Password grab a new mitt…
  2. He absolutely improved the team. Improvements need not only take place on July 31st. And even then, he certainly improved the team in that date. Just not to the degree you wanted…
  3. Pirates - sending them Enmanuel Valdez for a low level minor leaguer. Twins - two separate trades for Jovani Moran and Jorge Alcala. There was a second deal with the White Sox as well where we sent them Cam Booser for a minor leaguer…
  4. So now he should quit because he’s didnt have autonomous control? Does any CBO in the league have that? And how would his resignation help the Sox? I don’t think this is a reasonable answer , but rather a last ditch grasp at dangling straws to justify your position. Breslow, like most people, probably prefers to stay employed rather than quitting due to apparent control issues that would prevent him from getting hired anywhere else…
  5. You would need to talk to the author of the software in question…
  6. Well then opinions are clearly divided on his efforts…
  7. There’s a big difference between Breslow’s job and your expectations from Breslow’s job. I wasn’t thrilled with his deadline results, but I do have a better understanding of them. Still don’t like Dustin May, however…
  8. Spell check doesn’t fix auto corrected substitution, which, as substitutions, are spelled correctly…
  9. This is such a copout answer. Whether or not other teams were able to acquire a “#2” starter is a question about the feasibility of the task. It’s a barometer about the market. As it was a seller’s market in which closers went for multiple BA Top 100 prospects, it really is worth noting that no top tier starters were traded. If your answer is the Sox should have done whatever it takes, then we can only assume you would have included Anthony in this deal…
  10. The interesting option is Giolito. He has a $14mill team option for 2026. But if he throws a very reachable 140 IP (currently at 95), it becomes a $19mill mutual option. Would he accept that?
  11. DFA Alcala with a 1.69 ERA and a 99mph fastball?Peripherals do not support that ERA at all, but he still has to be behind Isaiah Campbell in the DFA pecking order, and in the same neighborhood as Eaton, Sogard, and Burdi. I wonder about a potential DFA of Vaughn Grissom as well, but I think because he has not appeared in MLB this year, he can still be traded. That potential usefulness alone might give reason to hold on to him…
  12. I’m not sure either one opts out. Story isnt getting a better deal at his age with his injury history. Even Bregman has to weigh whether or not it makes sense to walk away from $40mill. If they opt out, msybe Alonso for 1b? Casas is unreliable given that he keeps getting injured doing routine baseball activities…
  13. Why? Trade deadline grades are as useless as power rankings. It’s pseudo-journalistic fluff. The sporting journalism equivalent of a Hallmark holiday. They’re winning. They were happy to keep the team together. And that’s all that matters…
  14. Wong is having a season so bad offensively he likely ends up in the record books. But as some have pointed out, he knows the staff and vice versa, and he has become Bello’s personal catcher during a successful run. Seems good enough for now. Now the Sox were linked to Dalton Rushing, but I had my doubts LA wanted to move him, especially considering how frequently they rest Smith. It really didn’t make any sense. Of course, neither did trading Dustin May, but that’s another story…
  15. ESPN also says the Sox are the #1 AL wild card team with a 62-51 record and only 3.5 back from the division lead. I will take that over a successful trade deadline…
  16. Yeah if only the Sox had a RHH at 1b worth 1.2 bWAR in part time action and an OPS of 1.029 vs LHP. That would be awesome…
  17. Why would they DFA Alcala when May is already on the 40 man roster? More likely they just demote someone with options and keep their depth. Murphy, for example…
  18. Or Talksox would be calling for Password
  19. Thats really weird because trading a player off the active roster and trading a pitching prospect are two things Breslow has already done this year. Msybe because he already checked them off his To Do List…
  20. … and apparently an attitude dump..
  21. Or you're trading James Outman for Brock Stewart…
  22. And Pitt turned it down? Jones had been fairly up and down but he is hitting this year…
  23. And then there were the Billy Beane “All 3 team deals go through Oakland” days…
