  1. How about we just call you "pessimistic about Verdugo"? You avoid the dreaded and supposedly permanent "bust" label, and there is absolutely no way you can be wrong merely by being pessimistic. Also, the Sox chances for 2020 would have been WAY more dependent on Sale, Price and Eovaldi. Mookie could have won the Triple Crown, MVP, and Nobel Prize for Chemistry, but if any or all of Sale, Price and Eovaldi falter, this team was doomed. And then next year, all three oft-injured pitchers come back a year older and Mookie is gone...
  2. Yasmany Tomas is another candidate who almost made me wrong. So far he has made about $44 mill (of his career earnings of $51.5mill) playing minor league ball, and is set to earn $17mill this year and is unlikely to crack the DBacks roster. But he might still fall a bit short of Castillo...
  3. ... which only emphasizes my point. The 2020 Red Sox season depended heavily on the health of Sale, Price and Eovaldi. Not on Betts. And with no depth below them any injury would have ruined not just 2020, but possibly 2021 and 2022 as well...
  4. The Sox won 85 games an finished 3rd last year. You spent years ripping Cherington for assembling a team that won just 7 fewer games...
  5. Going out on a limb here, but I think Castillo has made more money playing minor league baseball than any other player in history, right? And he still has one year left...
  6. And Verdugo didn't strike out 12 times in his first 19 at bats. Bottom line - many prematurely labeled other players as "busts" and were clearly wrong because those players were not immediate success stories. Verdugo isn't the first and won't be the last player to have an injury early n his career. But very few of them are immediate career enders...
  7. This is old news. Everyone knows it was a salary dump. There was no other reason to include Price...
  8. A lot of people labeled Moncada a bust after his whopping 20 plate appearances in Boston. I think we can let Verdugo get at least one plate appearance before we call him a bust. And no idea whose these NL fans you talked to who weren’t excited about him, but apparently these folks must be very tough to impress. I live in an NL city and saw him play a few times last ST and in the season and thought he looked very exciting, especially on defense...
  9. This guy has barely pitched ever since I extended him in my AL only keeper league...
  10. As predictably predicted by notindamus...
  11. I promise. I’ll stop doing that. Can I just make one more little announcement to the media?
  12. No. I can see why you chose medicine over law. Just get the thing done right regardless of how long it takes. Everyone wants it done quickly, but sacrificing the truth in order to meet a deadline is absolutely the wrong way to go regardless of the outcome...
  13. Always felt it was a status symbol...
  14. Even repeatedly bringing up the Kobe Bryant case, as if that was so clear. I know it’s very common for sexual assault victims to refuse to testify, but very few of them also have their own civil suits. There’s a good possibility that whole affair was more about the settlement than the crime. Bryant admitted to adultery, but beyond that, this is really just more dragging names through the mud
  15. Listening to Most's radio broadcast while watching the C's on TV was surreal. I swear he was always watching a more exciting game than I was...
  16. Who actually listened to the Celtics’ TV announcers in the 80s? Turn off the TV volume and watch the game while listening to Johnny Most...
  17. Well, he is coming off pneumonia...
  18. Red Sox claimed RHP Phillips Valdez off waivers from Seattle. Nothing to get excited about. 28yo career minor leaguer who made his MLB debut for Texas with 11 IP last year...
  19. A cry you make about everyone else despite leaving clearly ambiguous statements on your own. That the name “Jeter” confused you in a discussion of Yankee greats only supports my point. You lost this argument. All future replies from you on the subject will only prove this indisputable fact. Probably why Brian Dozier hates you. Have a nice day...
  20. I know the complete lack of missing context clues does make it a puzzler. But somehow I’m the one with mental health issues...
  21. ... says the Sox fan who loved Rizzuto and DiMaggio. Probably Jeter, too...
  22. That, too. But I need to warn you, you’re getting dangerously close to seeing my point...
  23. Well, Joseph was already here. Dombrowski signed him, too...
  24. I like the way you think. And if this works out, I’m going to need of a good agent...
  25. ... which is like saying “I like giving to charities but I also enjoy throwing puppies off bridges, just not as much”...
