  1. But the point is, DD wanted Cherington to do Cherington things...
  2. Bloom is Chief Baseball Officer Brian O’Halloran is the GM Sam Kennedy is the President and CEO (Dombrowski’s former position)...
  3. Apparently it’s Chief Baseball Officer
  4. Dombrowski reportedly admitted he wasn’t expecting it. And he promoted Hazen to fill the role. It’s entirely possible Cherington quit because he knew his philosophy for running a team was in complete contrast with the Farm Killer. He would hardly be the first person ever to leave a position due to philosophical differences...
  5. Plus Lucchino’s title was President, which was also Dombrowski’s title. Cherington was replaced by Mike Hazen...
  6. I think he does. The Sox have too many holes in the staff to go replacing the guys who aren’t...
  7. I blame Ed Asner and Carrot Top...
  8. Ohhhhh! So you're saying the Sox are tanking so Henry can move the team to Miami?! Even though there's already a team there now?!!? And you're on board with this?!? Well, at least we get Willie Mays Hayes in CF to replace Bradley. Until he has tax problems and has to be replaced by Omar Epps the following season...
  9. Dalbec will hit 2HRs tonight. Book it...
  10. And every time DD signs a major contract, someone excuses it with “Henry signed off on it.” Doesn’t that mean Dombrowski isn’t either? (And given the number of people who credit Sandoval and/or Hanley with Lucchino, was Ben really ever the head decision maker?)
  11. Even if he was being supplanted, that doesn’t mean the Sox were better off with him going. As I said, DD wanted him to stay, presumably to keep the farm strong...
  12. I’m actually surprised the fire breathing velociraptor got in the car...
  13. 1) Maybe he didn’t like Dombrowski personally. Reportedly it’s not uncommon. 2) Possible he suspected that, but that doesn’t mean he was correct. 3) Maybe he worked very hard to restore a pretty depleted farm system (while winning a title) that was meant to pipeline players in for years, but knew it would be torn down in front of his eyes when Henry brought in a guy whose very reputation was “Farm Killer”...
  14. So is Jed Hoyer just a “coffee boy”?
  15. Is that what Hazen was?
  16. I think both are options. but a starter or two will be added in some way. Just probably not Bauer...
  17. Most people see a fire-breathing velociraptor holding a fistful of eviction notices as a favorable alternative to Lucchino...
  18. The first one is already on board...
  19. Henry signed off on Dombrowski to replace Lucchino, not Cherington. Dombrowski was reportedly caught offguard by Cherinton's resignation...
  20. Fair point. I was just bottom feeding...
  21. Now that prolonged case does say it is a very strong possibility, but the author does come up short of saying he can prove anything. I have no idea if Bauer is cheating or not. All we really know about the guy is his feverish addiction to sabermetrics and advanced stats. I'm just not one to label someone as a cheater without actual proof. Unless it's the Yankees...
  22. Not to take anything away from Hazen, who has shown himself to be a pretty good GM himself...
  23. I could argue that Munoz and Arroyo are question marks at best, but trending positive. And I think Potts is probably closer to MLB than Downs. But the fact remains the farm is getting stronger which should, in turn. have the same effect on the parent club...
  24. With Odor, it can go in either direction or simply maintain the status quo as a high K/high power guy who cannot field. He probably moves to the outfield at some point in the future...
  25. Odor is basically Chavis. He hits home runs. He strikes out a lot. He plays below average defense at 2B. His most redeeming quality is that he is still only 26, so he is a little over a year older than Dalbec and Chavis...
