  1. Kyle Hart 1st inning: 24.00 ERA All other innings: 7.50 ERA. Maybe he shouldn't be a starter or an opener...
  2. I find they add some excitement
  3. With some of these player, maybe we should pay them to play else. The results paying them to play in Boston aren’t so good...
  4. Me too. But for a lot of people, 2014 and 2015 seemed intolerable...
  5. Limited to one year
  6. Unless you want a quick turnaround with limited success like in 2013. Does Bloom have an A-Gon trade up his sleeve? Who would it involve?
  7. Shaw gave the Brewers two excellent seasons in which he OPS .844 and hit 63 home runs. Thornburg gave the Sox 43 innings with an ERA of 6.54...
  8. More of an anti-hero. If he was the villain, that would make the Monarch the hero. Come on!!
  9. The funny thing is, the White Sox made a few completely nondescript signings in the 2015-16 offseason that made the Sale trade and the current White Sox roster possible. The 2015 White Sox were actually a pretty good team with some of the best-valued contract extensions in the league, especially the dirt cheap contracts for Sale, Jose Quintana, and Adam Eaton. They broke up that team primarily because of the tirades of Sale and Eaton, who were angry about team president Kenny Willams' decision to no longer let Adam LaRoche's son Drake travel with the team and be part of the clubhouse. LaRoche himself had a few issues with ADD, a condition that became uner public scrutiny a couple years prior when, while playing 1B for Atlanta, he fielded a groundball from Ryan Braun and just stood there holding the ball while Braun and his pitcher converged on the bag. Some stories have indicated that having his son around was a calming influence that helped LaRoche do his best to remain focused, and the White Sox (including Williams himself) ok'd Drake LaRoche to be around the team all year and travel with them and hang out in the clubhouse. But that 2015-16 offseason, the White Sox added three free agents - Brett Lawrie, Mat Latos, and Todd Frazier. According to some reports, one of these three complained about Drake LaRoche being with the team all the time, leading to Williams reneging on his agreement. LaRoche then promptly retired from baseball, and this lead to the notable ire and tirades against Williams and the White Sox organization from Sale and Eaton (including the famous jersey-shredding incident), whereupon Williams traded them both. I always figured it to be Brett Lawrie who complained, as he had a reputation for being a serious prima donna. But I heard someplace else, I forget where, that it was Mat Latos. Either way, Williams and GM Rick Hahn were forced to dismantle the team with the subsequent trades of Sale and Eaton, and eventually Quintana, who was apparently only dealt to complete the fire sale. And in the process, he gave a major piece to the 2016-2018 three time AL East Champion Red Sox. Thank you, Mat Latos. Or Brett Lawrie...
  10. I would think that trade worked out for both teams, which is how it is supposed to be in theory. Whether or not Chicago "won" it is really imamterial. The Red Sox got what they wanted and got a title. The White Sox got more years of control of high upside players and greatly improved their team long term, which they wanted. That the White Sox are getting better production now than the Red Sox was inherent in the design of that trade. It was about as perfect of a trade as you will find for both teams...
  11. The Monarch has to be the best supervillain ever...
  12. See, some of us thought that to be the major moment of Steinbrenner Hypocrisy when coupled with The George's rant after the ending of the 2005 season on how the Rangers, who were playing for nothing, were supposed to their final game seriously against the Angels. But Showalter did not and played his B Team in a game with postseason implications, and it would up costing the Yankees a home series against the Angels (who then later bounced them). The irony, of course, was that the Yankees actually controlled their own fate that year, but also played their B Team against the Red Sox in the final game and got smoked. But that didn't stop Steinbrenner from ranting against Showalter and the Rangers. And sent a clear message that George expected other teams to take games with post-season implications seriously, but the Yankees did not have to. So I harbor no ill will against Andino for doing his job...
  13. I wpould imagine the reason for resetting this year is so they can. While I hope they bring in Trevor Bauer, Bloom has never signed any free agent to any sort of deal that would be required to land Bauer. However, whether or not he believes in these type of deals is unknown, as he has never had the resources before to make such a deal...
  14. 2016. I looked it up. He came bacl to MLB briefly on the Marlins that year at got all of 24 plate appearnces. Despite popular and understandable belief, apparently the Marlins are still an MLB franchise...
  15. I am not. I am saying that they do need to make some changes to compete. Think going into 2021 with Ryan Weber as the #3 or #4 starter will suddenly yield massive improvements? I also said that it would not be unlike Bloom to deal Perez even if the Sox were in contention. Are you reading these posts? I will say that one of the biggest factors for 2021 is the recovery of Eduardo Rodriguez...
  16. 1. How? 2. Why hate on Robert Andino? 3. How? Andino retired like 8 years ago?
  17. Something wrong with Brock Samson? The Venture Brothers was a great show...
  18. That's a possibility, too. Although I have questions about what he is going forward. If he is Russell Branyan 2.0, is he a worthwhile full time 1b? He' already 26. His prospect window is closing rapidly. If he has a future here, maybe he needs to be called up soon...
  19. Jonathan Schoop is a good free agent option, and seems only capable of getting one year deals. He has good Fenway power, is probably about average defensively at 2B, and meets the primary free agent criteria Bloom seems to have (as he's under 30). He is also apparently pretty tight with Xander Bogaerts. Non-tender Peraza and sign Schoop. Problem solved for one year...
  20. And is another voice option for you...
  21. Downs is definitely long term. Arauz is a utility infielder. Peraza is a non-tender candidate. The Sox could upgrade at 2B...
  22. Would you prefer I had her change it to James Earl Jones, Patrick Warburton, or Kristen Schaal?
  23. Well, unless the Sox make some drastic moves, what would you think? I will say definitively that said chance does not rest on Martin Perez. And Bloom has dealt as a seller while trying to contend before, such as when he acquired Trevor Richard and Nick Anderson last year while dealing away Ryne Stanek (plus)...
  24. Dalbec is much better trade bait, IMO. And as he is blocked at 3B and limited to a platoon at 1B, why not deal him for a player who can fill a full time role? Probably cannot get a SP for him, but what about a CF? Or a full time 2B who is not named Jose Peraza? Baseballtradevalues.com places Dalbec (19.7) roughly equal to Brewers' SP Adrian Houser (19.4), 2B Isan Diaz (17.2), CF Harrison Bader (20.7) or Byron Buxton (18.6). Now that doesn't mean all these teams want Dalbec. But he has some value...
  25. The Sox have finished in last place 3 times prior when Henry owned the team. In two of those 3 years, they won the AL East in the following season. I seriously doubt the Sox are trying to reset the tax limits so they can go on a prolonged rebuild...
