  1. Not sure you’re grasping the concept of “trivia” here. And everyone knew Sandoval started out his career as a surprisingly agile third baseman...
  2. And per Morosi, Kluber lives in the Greater Boston area. No idea why he lives there, but it can only help the Sox. But apparently he lives in Winchester, MA...
  3. You can't envison Devers with his body type chasing down fly balls as he ages? What about this body type?
  4. Yes. but bear in mind "bargains" does not always mean "difference makers"...
  5. The Twins signed Morales after the draft and did not lose a pick for signing him...
  6. Joel Payamps doesn't get your engine revving?
  7. It makes all the sense in the world for him to consider longer deals. He stands to be overpaid if he does, whereas the lucrative one year deals might disappear rather quickly as he ages...
  8. Or maybe it was becausde it was only 38 innings, and after almost no ST games...
  9. While clearly predicting these things is not my strong suit, I just think there are too many teams who can easily outbid the Reds. And if Bauer stays true to his "one year contracts" decision, it does prevent a lot of heavy-spending teams from shying away. The only risk is if you sign him for one season, and that season never happens. The only reason I think the Reds have a chance at signing him is teams might be hesitant to give up a draft pick for him and then have a non-season at all, or an injury-plagued season from Bauer...
  10. Probably worth pointing out my picks so far: Charlie Morton - Mets. Whoops. Mike Minor - Padres. Double whoops Drew Smyly - Overseas. And sadly, I was confident in this one. So yeah, my prognostication abilities might be a bit overrated, regardless of how low you rate them...
  11. In the MLBTR Free Agent Contest, I had him signing with the Mets. No money need be disclosed, but somewhere around 2 to 3 kajillion dollars felt about right...
  12. OK. But who will be the interested spenders? So far, a lot of teams seem to be more interested in jettisoning big contracts. I would keep the Sox as candidates solely because they really need to spend after the PR nightmare that was 2020. The Mets are in the same boat as well. But who else? Yankees? Dodgers? Angels? Phillies?
  13. They could defintely get 2 arms for that price, but will those two arms even combine for 6 fWAR?
  14. Arenado would be an incredibly bad idea. His career OPS at Coors is .985 while his career road OPS is .793. Now, plenty of players have home/road splits that favor their home park even when they don't play in a notorious lauching pad. But 200 points? Take him our of Coors and that home OPS in Fenway probably drops closer to (let's assume) .850, which would make him a roughly .825 OPS player. This makes his offensive output roughly equal to Devers (.830 OPS since 2016). Granted, Arenado has 8 Gold Gloves in 8 seasons. But is the defensive upgrade really worth $200 million over the next 6 seasons? Devers himself might not be looking at a contract that expensive. Avoid Arenado like the plague....
  15. There are clear pros and cons to Morton, who has managed to hold a late career surge since he signed with Houston. On the plus side, he was a 6 fWAR pitcher as recently as 2019 and he is battle-tested in the post-season. On the downside, he is 37 years old. I don't think a heavy salary for a single season is all that outrageous for him. But the key being that it is for one season.
  16. Five man bench tops Plawecki owns one spot. Arroyo/Munoz has a second. Chavis has a third. An outfielder? Preferably that can play CF. That leaves the other from the Munoz/Arroyo pair if they sign/trade for a 2b...
  17. Brewer could be DFAd and no one except maybe a few close relatives would notice...
  18. Hey Bauer’s gotta sign somewhere ...
  19. So fake. Get in touch with the spirit world like a man https://riordan.fandom.com/wiki/Magic_8_Ball
  20. Yes. Like in the movie “Big”! So you’re saying the Mystery Teams wishes...
  21. I know Arroyo had a minor hot streak last season, but I think the Sox should/will consider upgrading the slot and keeping Arroyo (and Munoz) on the team as depth, especially since both have experience at multiple positions. There are several available 2b options available in free agency who would be upgrades that don’t break the budget, including Hernandez, Villar and Schoop. And there may be others once the non-tenders become available...
  22. I only heard Benintendi's name in that capacity...
  23. I assumed they just had their friends pass notes at recess ..
