  1. Lowe is still in his arbitration years. He makes $10.3mill this year and is likely looking at $12-13mill next season, with only one year to go before free agency. With Casas coming back and Campbell still in tow, Lowe is a potential non-tender candidate. I like him better than Casas, but Casas will be A LOT cheaper. Like $10-12 mill cheaper…
  2. Worst hitter vs LHP or not, Lowe is a Gold Glove caliber 1b. The downside to platooning is that one of the players is a worse defender. Sometimes it might be ok to let the inferior batter hit against the same side pitcher if he can defend his position…
  3. Recall Password (Ghost) and put him in RF. Other than Eaton, he’s the only defensive option. And Jhostnyxon, unlike Eaton, at least has offensive potential. If not actual offense…
  4. Batting order aside, the Sox defensive alignment for the rest of the season should be: C - Narvaez and Wong. Sánchez is for emergencies only. 1b - Lowe 2b - Hamilton vs RHP; Romy vs LHP 3b - Bregman SS - Story LF - Duran CF - Rafaela RF - Password aka Ghost DH Yoshida vs RHP; Refsnyder vs LHP.. Eaton becomes Cora’s supersub as he as has played OF, 2b and 3b…
  5. I don’t think they can afford to get rid of him before then…
  6. I think he would have re-signed, but not given Boston any preference. It was all about money and years. But hey, that’s his prerogative…
  7. He blocked me because I talked down to a Yankee troll…
  8. When Anthony and Abreu return?
  9. Did you love the recently released Darren Baker getting dragged to safety by JT Snow in the 2002 World Series?
  10. This is true. WAR gets inflated by multipostional usage. But remember WAR is a measurement of achievements, not ability. While Zobrist was not among the game’s elite talents ever, was his ability to defend more positions helpful in increasing the Rays’ win totals?
  11. Only the Navajos in Arizona observe Daylight Savings Time. The rest of the state spends their daylight all willy-nilly and carefree…
  12. Was it? I responded to a seemingly blanket statement about traded Braves prospects. I wouldn’t expect the Braves to give up anything good while acquiring fungible salary dumps like Jorge Soler and Adam Duvall. If you only meant that brief period, I will tell Mr. Langeliers to back off…
  13. They might not Sox have promoted too many others to MLB to still overpopulate any Top 50 list…
  14. Today’s forecast calls for partly sunny with a 0% chance of facts…
  15. 1-5. You’re right. That clearly makes the Dodgers the superior team and not overrated at all…
  16. Shea Langeliers would like a word with you…
  17. I absolutely disagree. Milwaukee has been very good for the last two months, and their record shows it. But Whats the basis for deciding Philly and LA are better than all AL teams? Is it their equvalent W-L record? Their combined 3-3 against Boston that demonstrates their superiority? Or maybe their combined 0-6 record vs Houston is what places them above the AL. The Dodgers in particular are questionable. 0-6 against the Angels? They might not be the force you think they are…
  18. It’s really weird to write this article about next year right after a huge void opened up in the Sox lineup. Let’s not pretend the Sox are now immune to future voids…
  19. Whats the basis for the AL being so weak? As a league, they’re 14 games over .500. Since the record of all games between two AL teams is .500, that difference comes from beating up the “superior” National League….
  20. Well, we still liked AL April Rookie of the Month Kristian Campbell back then. One slump later and he’s disappeared faster than Chuck Cunningham…
  21. The Sox absolutely could have kept Devers, but MLB won’t let them use a lineup with 4 outfielders and two DHs. Devers’ exit was prompted by his stubborn inflexibility. If they kept him at DH, were they going to bench Duran, Rafaela or Abreu to get Anthony into the lineup?
  22. Having a third catcher makes sense. I’m not wild about Kelly. But what were the other options? Pitchers Criswell, Guerrero, Winckowski, Crawford, and Fitts are all injured. Harrison has reportedly been learning a new pitch plus a new grip for a second pitch, so he’s not available. I think Moran’s demotion was too recent to call him back up. That leaves Kelly, Murphy, and Isaiah Campbell. If they didn’t want another left-handed pitcher, then the choices were Kelly and Campbell…
  23. Yoshida to AAA has been an option the Sox avoided far too long. I get he was reportedly expected to play OF, but they still took far too long to get him going in AAA…
