Jameson Taillon feels like a decent Bloom-style target. Former top prospect who simply has not panned out, much like Tyler Glasnow. Per BTV, a deal of Vazquez and Ward is acceptable, assuming Pitt is interested in those players...

But the Sox won the game with Henderson's big home run off Donnie Moore (on Hendu's sac fly in extra innings). What was forgotten was Steve Crawford getting out of that bases loaded, no one out jam in the ninth allowing only the tying run. Or were you referring to Henderson's home run in game 6 of the WS that year that would have been the winning run had not the Aguilera meltdown that culminated in the most overblown error in MLB history?

At this point, even as Eovaldi's biggest detractor, I don't foresee a situation where trading him makes sense. Before last season? Yes. But right now with the pitching in the state it is in, I don't see how they can deal him and improve for 2021. (Which of course, does not mean it cannot happen. Just means I cannot see it.)

I tend to think it was Mueller who really turned everything around. If he doesn't hit that home run, we wouldn't view Varitek/ARod altercation the same way. It's just part of the Saga of Bill Mueller in 2004, I guess.. The man singles of Rivera in the ninth inning of game 4 of the ALCS to kickstart the most improbable comeback in MLB history, and all anyone talks about is Roberts' stolen base...

LOL Without seeming like I want to press the issue, who are the Sox players that it would break your heart if they were dealt away? For me, once Mookie got dealt, that left only Bogaerts and Devers, I don't think anyone else would bother me...

And it is also possible that Bloom is waiting to see if DD (or whoever, really) gets the Angels' job and fires Maddon, who is Bloom's former manager, and whose name does carry sufficient PR weight. (Chicago hired him solely for that reason, even firing newly hired Rick Renteria to accommodate Maddon.) The one point I would find makes very little sense is passing over Gibbons solely because it was an interim position. If Gibbons was the guy he wanted, there is no point in waiting it out, especially since it leaves the possibility of Gibbons getting another position elsewhere. If he actually liked Gibbons, he would very likely already be here...

I'm guessing no one would give him anything for Cron in a trade and he figured Cron not to be worth the raise he was due in arbitration. I don't think Bloom is going to gut the Red Sox similarly. Just like Friedman became a different GM in LA...
