  1. This is not a great market for SPs. There are barely two worth signing. Now relievers, on the other hand, are abundant. I’m getting disappointed with Bloom that he has not signed Brad Hand and Archie Bradley already...
  2. Caleb Simpson is one guy who might sneak in for a bit, but at some point he is Robert Stock 2.0. The only guy on that list I think ha any real potential might be Cesar Puello, and his celining is limtied to being a 4th OF can play all 3 positions but is not needed to hit...
  3. And now Phil get a chance to prove my long held belief that God himself could not handle his knuckler. RIP...
  4. That is why the Sox are likely to get both a 2B and CF. Just because pitching is the priority does not mean everything else needs to be ignored. Especially since there is not exactly a ton of pitching on this market even worth spending on after Bauer. And when you also factor in: 1) that teams are passing on All Star closers with only $10mill left and 2) none of the typical big spenders have been dropping cash anywhere except the Mets, who inexplicably dropped $40mill on a career backup catcher who had a good season once, then the Sox are clearly aiming to get those starters for less money than normally budgeted. The Sox are actually extremely likely to being in a starting 2B, a starting CF, and a LHH 1B option, and doing so actually won't leave them unable to afford any pitcher except maybe Bauer. Maybe. After all, Bauer does have to sign somewhere....
  5. Corey Kluber is still in play. If he looks good at his audition next month, I do hope that his residence in Winchester, MA becomes a factor in choosing the Sox...
  6. I would be very surprised if Christian Arroyo is as included in the plans as you seem to think he is. Clearly Munoz - already DFA'd and re-signed -is not. I don't think the Sox are going to sign any more utility infielder types; those positions are filled. They need starters at 2B and CF. And CF has more potential for a bad contract package to hep the pitching...
  7. I think the Sox are looking to upgrade 2b full time. Some people are apparently sold on Christian Arroyo, but he has a history of sucking that is far greater than his history of success. And his “success” was actually pretty mediocre stuff. Put another way, I don’t think the Sox are going to pay Enrique Hernandez to back up Christian Arroyo...
  8. Sox are apparently interested in Enrique Hernandez as a 2b. First name on my prediction they’ve shown interest in so far...
  9. Please be careful. Next time you move the goal posts that quickly, someone might get hurt
  10. Unless the Sox also get to prorate their fWAR. How does Kikuchi fare vs Tanner Houck in that regard?
  11. There have been so few pitchers - maybe less than3 per season on average - who come over Asia that evaluating the imports is hampered by the small sample size. That said, the Asian import relief pitchers have had numerous success stories, like Koji Uehara, Kasahiro Sasaki, Taki Saito, Shigetoshi Hasegawa, and Hideki Okajami, and probably a few others...
  12. Why? It’s not like there has been a wave of salary dumps lately...
  13. Or what would the Orioles use to entice a team to take one year of Alex Cobb at $15mill? Cobb has not been worth the money and has had his share of health issues, but he is a guy Bloom is familiar with and has shown flashes of serious ability...
  14. They've been trying to pawn off Odor's deal for a while now...
  15. Like Brad Hand
  16. It is very possible his interest was overstated. If this guy is like, say, Kikuchi, the Sox might be better off with Matt Andriese on a 1 year deal...
  17. Chicago is the Satan’s Ski Resort....
  18. Sox might be interested, and he would be a nice addition, but I think someone else will make a comparable offer to keep him at shortstop as opposed to the one the Sox make to move him to 2b. Now a deal with Cincy for, say Tyler Mahle and Mike Moustakas might be more along the lines of something I expect...
  19. I think the Sox chose Price and Eovaldi...
  20. Range Factor is worthless unless comparing two players who play the same position on the same team...
  21. What if I said he was Mike Schmidt 2.0?
  22. I think he’s Russ Branyan 2.0. I also wonder why people think that’s a bad thing...
  23. So you’re more sold on Dalbec than Benintendi? Despite his struggles last year, AB is still only one year older...
  24. But Bloom didn’t sign any MLB role players last year. Just a bunch of career minor leaguer hopefuls...
  25. Well can you blame them? The top tier free agents are just flying off the shelves. First it was Charlie Morton. Then ...errr... Charlie Morton. And umm... Morton Charles. And Chuck Morton. Oh and Arlie-Chay Orton-May. At this pace, there won’t be anyone good left soon!!!
