  1. Incorrect. He made Spicoli share it...
  2. The Cubs are in an unenviable position where after 2021, Kris Bryant, Anthony Rizzo and Javier Baez are all free agents. They need some young, cheap talent to supplement whichever one if any they decide to keep...
  3. Of course he wants $36 mill per year. He cannot sign for a lower AAV than his arch-rival Gerrit Cole. I think the Sox should offer him 2 years $74mill. Just to see how petty he is...
  4. I'm on board. Although I think he signs a 2B in there somewhere, especially given the abundance on the market. And hopefully the relievers are Bradley and Hand...
  5. It certainly had that effect. Although it can be tough to tell without knowing who the Sox would have signed on the International Market. Who were the five signees the Sox lost?
  6. But that sanction got us Sale, so all is forgiven...
  7. I think he is being sarcastic. Web forums are not the best medium for that, however...
  8. I can’t say Contreras is the preferred target, but having him out there certainly cuts into Vazquez’ appeal. But I don’t think the Sox are positioned as they once were to deal Vazquez, and his replacement is even foggier. I suppose the Sox could over complicate things and try to acquire via trade someone like Austin Hedges or Tucker Barnhart, as both teams are clearly cutting costs...
  9. 1. You know I am aware of that site. 2. How is it relevant to my point?
  10. Per MLBTR, the Cubs are aggressively shopping Willson Contreras, who is essentially the same player as Vazquez, and could earn very similar amounts in 2021 and 2022. Contreras was worth 5.1 fWAR with 3 DRS in the past 3 seasons, Vazquez was worth 5.3 fWAR and 5 DRS in that same time frame. Sorta makes it harder to deal Vazquez...
  11. The Twins signed Hansel Robles. Robles was one third of the set of relievers I suggested the Sox sign two from. (And yes, I am ending that sentence with a preposition. Deal with it.) Now Bloom needs to gout and get Hand and Bradley...
  12. So are you saying that Phillips Valdez isn't more appealing than pre-2020 BA #18 Luis Patino? This was 100% on Bloom. Just because you're armed with a cap gun in your duel with a man armed with a rifle is no reason to not pull the trigger...
  13. I think they consider other voices. They aren't pretending to know everything. It is possible they recognized my superior intellect. After all I spelled most of my worlds correctly and even used some of that fancy punctuation stuff, possibly even properly...
  14. If minimum wage Stallings is any good, why wouldn't Philly just cut us out of the deal and trade for Taillon/Stallings/etc. themselves? They need a catcher. And they could use the pitching upgrade in Taillon. They could even use Adam Frazier at 2B and slide Segura back to SS...
  15. Should the Sox really be concerned that JD Martinez might opt out?
  16. If the Sox deal Vaz, it better be for pitching. I'd rather have one Vazquez than 10 Adam Fraziers'...
  17. Maybe. Depends on how he achieved it. Of course, he was a pretty good pitcher prior to the increased spin rate, too...
  18. True. But while the CF FA market is weak, the CF "potential contract dump" market has a few intriguing names, including Kiermaier, Lornzo Cain, Ender Inciarte, Scott Kingery, Dexter Fowler, Jason Heyward and Wil Myers. Granted, not all are smart options...
  19. If they redo the transaction, I get to redo my enthusiasm. Bearing in mind the enthusiasm is appropriately scaled for a player with such a limited ceiling...
  20. Ok but like I said, in their formula is very simple. Projected WAR iconverted to dollars minus projected salaries. Sometimes they add marketability crap in there, which is fine for Trout or Betts, but probably not applicable to Castillo or Torres. So find some projections for WAR for both players. Find their projected salaries. Do the math and see how it works out. Or just contact the site and ask for an explanation. They update things all the time and welcome user input. I've gotten them to update numerous player values based on various logic, including this week when I questioned their insanely low valuation of Matt Boyd...
  21. Like I said, 2B is one of the positions the Sox can wait a bit and probably steal a good player for very little money. Of course, the main reason to do that is to be able to spend more on pitching, and rght now I am not sure what pitching is worth spending on. Kluber and Tanaka would be nice, but it is also possible both are barely able to pitch this season...
  22. No. I was hoping if they dealt Vazquez, they might sign Zunino, but he is off the market. There is not much left unless you like Wilson Ramos or Tyler Flowers...
  23. And it feels like a step laterally to deal Price and then sign Bauer for probably similar money. Really more money because the Soxare still paying Price. Will they wind up trading Bauer and paying half in 3 seasons?
  24. Backup catcher is not a need. The Sox have Plawecki. If they deal Vazquez. hopefully they do not just promote Plawecki...
  25. Really if you look at Paxton, Odirizzi, Walker and Jose Quintana, they have all combined for one season with more than 170 IP since 2016. Might as well sign Bauer or Tanaka...
