  1. There has been discussion for deals involving prosepcts, but per MLBTR yesterday "One of those clubs “has discussed trading big-league pitching depth for Benintendi,” Speier writes." (https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2021/01/red-sox-discussing-andrew-benintendi-in-trade-talks.html) Now whatever anyone means by "big league pitching depth" is up for interpretation...
  2. I joined their pay stuff once. While you can find some remarkable stuff that way, Fangraphs is more user-friendly and free...
  3. What if Wilson doesn’t hit .220 with 20 HRs? What if he hit .140 with 5 HRs? The guy has never hit double digit HRs above A ball. Not sure MLB is where he gets his career high...
  4. It was just lazy and it let the 2 jump in front of it. I helped it adjust and gave it a stern talking-to...
  5. Travis Shaw has only played 268 innings at 2B in his career. That experiment was a failure. In fact, it was such a failure that Shaw lost the position to a guy who had never played 2b before in his career...
  6. Over comparing it to comedy and including a relevant reference to drill the point home? That's just sad...
  7. One guy who probably deserves more mention is Tommy La Stella. He has been worth 3.2 fWAR over the past two seasons, but that gets more impressive when you realize he has only played 135 games in that stretch. LHH which makes for a nice platoon with Chavis or Arroyo at 2B. Versatile player with experience at 1B and 3B as well. Average to slightly below defensive grades. But he also never strikes out. Since 2018 he has only 40 strike outs and 47 walks (none intentional)...
  8. A more boring way of saying it, yes...
  9. ... it might make Cleveland rethink the whole "Brad Hand/option" thingy...
  10. Again, he does have a track record. And he was actually incredibly good as recently as 2018. Chris Flexen got 2 years and he has never been any good...
  11. In free agency, like comedy, timing is everything. Ask Gary Matthews Jr if you doubt me...
  12. Ah but did Greenwwell ever get a movie role based on his hillbilly background? https://www.imdb.com/title/tt1684927/characters/nm1309453?ref_=ttfc_fc_cl_t2
  13. I'd like it better but it has no good sorting and comparing features for looking at multiple players at once...
  14. Well, do not forget what the "E" in ETA stands for...
  15. It was roughly the same size, but 5 levels were named A, A1, B, C, and D prior to 1963 when they adopted their existing nomenclature...
  16. Happiest person with this contract - Brad Hand Unhappiest - everyone who passed on him for 1 year at $10 mill....
  17. Well the guy does have two Cy Young's under his belt. If he has any velocity left, and he can go a full session without having surgery, his track record does the rest of the talking...
  18. What's the rush on Rosario? We have Duran ahead of him, and the Sox have Wilson and Puello if they need a 4th or 5th outfielder. Rosario is 21, no need to pigeon hole him just yet...
  19. Probably We would have two Wong's, and they won't make a White....
  20. Agree. Pass on DJ for $100+ mill. LeMahieu has been worth 9.9 fWAR over the past 3 seasons. Kolten Wong has been worth 7.9 fWAR in that same time frame. I would be extremely surprised if Wong's contract wound up being anywhere 79% of DJLM's. In that same time frame, Cesar Hernandez has been worth 5.8 fWAR. Again, doubtful he find anything anywhere near 58% of what DJLM wants. And neither Hernandez nor Wong will cost a draft pick. If LeMahieu was the one missing piece to building a championship, that is one thing. But as he cannot pitch, he is not the top priority.
  21. I do love playing Hold'Em at a casino, but my limit is about the same as yours - around $300. And that puts you at such a disadvantage, because you cannot use a $300 all-in bet to bluff someone if they have $8,000 in chips in front of them. Best thing you can do with small cash is play super conservatively and fold a lot, which you can fortunately do for free most of the time...
  22. It is true the players who sign early always do better. Are we seeing an adjustment as to what qualifies as "early"? We've still only seen three players get deals longer than 2 years (McCann, Kim, and Hendricks)...
  23. Not to mentiion, it's very possible (re:likely) LeMahieu and his agent are just using the Red Sox to rekindle some interest from the Yankees. DJ reportedly wants to return to NY, so other team would he/his agent need to re-enter the bidding to catch the attentio of the Yankee brass?
  24. The “C”? For “Crippled”?!?
  25. I would think that specific trade would have happened and the big holdup is Bloom is avoiding Blackmon and his .747/.987 home road splits, well, forever, because $41.5 million is a lot of money for a guy who would hit like Jackie Bradley but play CF like Jackie Gleason...
