Career-wise there isn’t much difference between Cordero and Chavis. The biggest difference is Cordero is an outfielder, and that’s a bigger need on this team right now. But in time, I think both will be demoted...

Potential is such a tempting seductress. Not defense. In 2007 the defensively superior Coco Crisp was not crushing it at the plate, giving fans an excuse to scream and yell for Jacoby Ellsbury to be promoted. They weren’t so concerned with Crisp’s glove, which was closer to Bradley’s than any other Sox CF in the past 40 years...

While you’re being vague, it looks like you’re supporting Bradley deserving over 500 PA to prove himself because he was good in college and the minors while Cordero and his .737 OPS in the majors gets 90 PA...

Brasier has reportedly stated throwing, but he hbasically missed all of spring training. He's probably a ways off. Houck has a sore flexor muscle. I suppose it depends how severe, but I am pretty sure flexor muscle injuries have cost pitchers entire seasons. At this point, he might be a bonus. Hopefully, the Sox jettison Brice soon but I have my doubts. And the recent emergence of Jeffrey Springs may have bolstered Blooms confidence in his evaluation skills, which gives Brice a longer leash. (Do not go reading too deep in that comment; it involves a ridiculous amount of conjecture on my part. Like if conjecture was an Olympic event, I'd be on Team USA and my picture would be on a Wheaties Box after that one.) But if the Sox do add a reliever or two, I would imagine this Brandon Brennan fellow (which sounds like such a fake name, by the way) is probably pretty high on the depth chart. I have him in my league, which is an 11 team roto league. Plenty of good pitchers available, but Pivetta has been working for me. Although the WHIP is troublesome. Some Sox fans do prefer not have Boston players on their team. Superstition? Sure. Don’t like the double whammy if they disappoint? Yeah, for some. Every team has fans like that. No biggie...

And being appreciated by Mookie and Remy isn’t even remotely the same as being appreciated by casual fans and diehard fans, and even many advanced metric types. If you poke around about Cordero, you can find he was also very much appreciated by scouts and MLB people for a long time for his defensive play and his offensive tools. But that hasn’t stopped anyone from being disappointed with him this year. Including you, who has called me out for reminding people that the guy has had better numbers before and at the MLB level. It’s not exactly fair to give players like Bradley credit for collegiate performance but disregard anything Cordero did in MLB just because it wasn’t in Boston...

Duran is very likely behind the injured players on the depth chart. When Hernandez and Arroyo return, Arauz and perhaps Cordero might be the ones demoted...

Using message boards as a representative sample, most called for him gone based on his hitting, which took a long time to come around. My expectations dropped and frequently called him “the next Darren Lewis”, a player I always felt was unappreciated because he was primarily a defensive player. But then many people didn’t like Darren Lewis because, well, he was primarily a defensive player. Cordero isn’t playing GG defense, but even if he was, many would still want him replaced. If he was OPSing 1.200 and playing Dwayne Hosey defense out there, plenty of people would be defending him, assuming the issue came up at all. Heck, some people project elite defense on mediocre to bad fielders if they are elite hitters who make routine plays most of the time. This happened to Bogaerts on this board just last week...

And yet fans still called for his removal the whole time...

Cordero has had 87 plate appearnces. Jackie Bradley floundered for 2 years and 530 PA with an OPS+ of 53 and still got chances...
