I think chances of him getting DFA'd are up there with my chances of winning Mega Millions without buying a ticket. He might wash out and get released at some point this year, but he was good enough to justify his $1.2mill AAV even with his horrific second half, his BB issues and his 5.00 FIP. I would say there is absolutely no chance he gets DFAd in front of the Rule 5 draft. Chances that he is still with the club in September are closer to 75%. And maybe it's in the 10% range for picking up his option after the season...

Or maybe they want to leave a spot open to participate in the Rule 5 draft. You are not allowed to draft anyone if the 40 man roster is full...

Ah, but everyone projected the Mariners to miss the postseason and they did. Yet Servais still got more votes than Cora despite meeting and not exceeding his meager expectations. Heck, Montoya was projected (by some) to get his team to the postseason, and he failed, and yet he still got more votes than Cora. I'm thinking the fix was in here...

Why on Earth would the Sox DFA Sawamura? He's already signed for 2022 and even has a buyout for 2023. So no chance at saving money. Sure, he was no Mariano Rivera, but the Sox are not likely to find a better replacement for the $1.2mill he makes...

They never should have. He barely touched AA in 2019, then did not play at all in 2020, and then was effectively bumped up 2 levels for 2021 after not playing for a full year. His struggles were not a surprise, and his biggest crime was failing to be Juan Soto...

Never confuse speed with quickness. Speed might help on defense, but there is no guarantee a fast player is a good defender, as speed has nothing to do with the ability to judge, catch or throw...

I think Baez will top $100mill. Probably not by much, but I think he can. All it takes is one crazy GM like maybe Scott Harris to go all in and overbid everyone else. Not saying it will be Scott Harris, but it will definitely be Scott Harris...

BTV accepts a trade proposal of Franchy Cordero for Matt Boyd. Boyd is a potential non-tender candidate with Detroit with only one year left before free agency. I do realize I am on a very short list of people who still have faith in him as a pitcher. I think even Mrs. Boyd dropped off that list a couple of years back...

And what will the Yankees be giving up for Reynolds? Ben Cherington is a notorious prospect hoarder. If you have a player you think is off-limits, that will be undoubtedly what he wants and it will be non-negotiable. Per BTV, Reynolds has a surplus value of $85mill. Using their system, the Yankees would need to trade Volpe and Dominguez and Gil to get Reynolds...
