  1. Not the ideal way to score, but it beats the K we’ve seen all too often. As you, me and most of the board said all of last year, put the ball in play and something good might happen.
  2. Yup. Every pitcher who gives up 2 runs in the first 3 innings (or 4 as it ended up) deserves a loss.
  3. Didn’t say he was great, but given the number of runners he allowed, it easily could have been 4-5 runs. He kept the game close and gave the team a shot.
  4. Kid wasn’t sharp but he did limit the damage and gave them a chance. A loss at this point is on the O (again).
  5. I didn't get it Wednesday when Cora left Whitlock in for 30 pitches, figuring he'd be unavailable for a couple days because of it. In another instance of managers know stuff we don't, it turns out he was not going to be available for a vastly different reason. Congrats to Garrett and his wife on a baby boy.
  6. Agree 100% on Rafaela and challenges. If I’m Cora, he is told you challenge a pitch again, you won’t finish the AB. Then. AC has to follow up actually doing it. It’ll never happen.
  7. Vazquez trying to help Whitlock out, swing at ball 4 twice before taking that 3rd strike.
  8. So if the Sox pitchers faced the Sox hitters in “real” intersquad game, what happens?
  9. When the Sox next visit Houston, they should seriously think about skipping Crochet in the rotation. Lack of offense today aside, this will make him 0-3 at Minutemaid (or whatever it’s called now) and his performance today actually reduced his ERA there to 7.43.
  10. They keep getting 1-2 runs a game, you could trot Koufax, Gibson, Pedro, Verlander and Scherzer to the mound in their primes and you’d be fortunate to win 50 games.
  11. I have no issue with letting Watson keep going here. He’s got to learn sometime and a game like this is a chance to do it. He’s going to be here all year anyway, so he may as well pitch. Right now he’s overthrowing.
  12. Even Crochet would have trouble winning the way they’re “hitting” right now.
  13. Assuming he has options left, I’d strongly consider delivering a message and send him down for a while. He’s been up for 3 1/2 years and other than a 2 month stretch last year, it’s the same BS every game. Edit - Just checked, Bello has 2 options remaining.
  14. Screw Bello. You want to mess around and walk guys with 2 outs, you eat the inning. Don’t care if your arm falls off. We can replace a #4 pitcher.
  15. From now on, just wave Alvarez to first. I don’t care if the bases are loaded. He’s killed us since he came up.
  16. Took some close pitches. Just tried to put it in play. Didn’t try to hit it 500 feet. There’s a lesson in that for some (most) of these guys.
  17. Ya beat me to it by a minute. Brown won’t be allowed to go the distance this early unless he starts getting a lot of 3 pitch ABs so it will have to be a combined one.
  18. Wasn’t a foul ball, so it had to cross grass/dirt line fair, especially off a left handed bat. But this is what we’re reduced to, discussing whether a pop up was fair or foul. Oh look, two fly balls to left.
