  1. As bad as Porcello was, offensively 3 runs in 3 games ain't going to get you very many wins. They are fortunate to have gotten 1.
  2. Nah, you don't want that. At least they are using Maddox, whoever the hell that is. That's an okay use of the pen.
  3. The way this one is going, that might not be a bad thing. Fox has had trouble today. I turned on the U.S. Open around lunch time and they were off the air for a while, and then had no announcers for a spell (that was interesting as all you could hear was the talk between the golfers and their caddies).
  4. I wouldn't use pitches, I would use innings. Tell him he's going 7, no matter how many he throws.
  5. Now I leave him in to take the pounding. No sense wasting any bullpen in this one.
  6. At this point, there really is no rotation as we think of it. And after Sale right now, it's all question marks. I mean, you've got Sale then Price/Porcello/Pomeranz in some sort of order for 2-4 and Velazquez #5.
  7. You know, maybe that need to switch up the catcher and use Vazquez with Porcello. Got to try something with him.
  8. Chances are now he settles down, gets through the next 5 innings unscathed and keeps the Sox close. But since the aren't scoring for him this season, that won't be good enough. He is actually on a pace to lose 20 games. Sad thing is, you generally have to be a pretty decent pitcher to lose 20.
  9. True, but I posted that as McCann came to the plate.
  10. Doesn't look good but only Springer hit the ball well; the other 2 were not exactly roped.
  11. If you read his signature, you will see the answer.
  12. So long as the ump is consistent with the call.
  13. Xander looks like he is not seeing the ball at all right now. He really looks like he could use a day off.
  14. Kelly doesn't get that because he's all over the place with his pitches. Luckily, it didn't cost him. Kelly would do well to dial it down to 95 and get some movement on those fastballs; everything is straight as an arrow. Reminds me of Bard a little (when Bard could still find the plate). Mookie. Mookie.
  15. I'd be more impressed if you had said it before the 7th inning. And the score aside, I'll take that effort from any starting pitcher any day of the week.
  16. When did we trade Butterfield to the Astros? (although that one reminded me more of Wendell Kim).
  17. Who, and at more importantly, at what price?
  18. Just goes to show that ANY pitcher at the major league level can shut any team down. It's how often they can do it that separates the good from the average from the poor. Would anyone have predicted Johnson's shutout a few weeks ago?
  19. Right on cue, as soon as the Sox fall behind, d-money shows up.
  20. He is actually ahead of Benintendi. At the same age (20), Beni had played 2 years of SEC baseball and was in A and A+ ball. He started his age 21 season at A+ Carolina before heading to Portland and then Boston. And there may very well be something he needs to work on that professional scouts see and the average fan does not.
  21. Saw something that Moreland is banged up a little after being hit by a pitch in the toe on Tuesday. I guess it swelled up overnight so they kept him out as a precaution. Better to miss a couple games now than to have it linger for weeks.
  22. Problem is so has everybody else.
  23. So do you use Kimbrel since he's warmed up?
  24. Probably up for long relief in case Johnson doesn't go too far tonight. The bullpen has amassed 27 innings over the last 7 games (11 the last 2 nights and 15 2/3 the last 3).
