Those numbers correspond with when he broke his toe. He's been trying to play through it, but it's not working. Travis was starting against most lefthanders and he wasn't hitting at all either (his slash line for the same 28 days is .192/.313/.230). Farrell stuck Moreland in there because of the utter futility of the rest of the line-up.
Moreland should not be hitting 4th, he should be in th 6-7 hole. That's where they envisioned him. He is, however, a streaky player (as he showed early in the season). I think that toe is bothering him a lot more than they are letting on.
I'm hard pressed to think of anyone on this team who should hit cleanup right now. Betts has been scuffling. Bogaerts has as well. Hanley has had brief 2-3 game stretches where he seems to be hammering the ball and then quickly morphs back into blah.
I asked you the other night who you would have batting 4th; you never answered. As I stated, right now, no one merits the spot. Unfortunately, they make you pencil somebody in.
