Another example of why you just can't throw anyone over there. Those plays CAN make a difference, and they are not learned by talking a few grounders during infield.

Actually, there is a 30 day wait on re-signing a released player. I think Hanley was technically released on June 1st, so they couldn't re-sign him until July 1 at the earliest. And Kimmi has it correct, there is zero chance of Dombrowski taking him back (and zero chance that Hanley would come back to Boston.)

Okay all you arm chair managers. Do you send Porcello out for the 8th? He’s at 98 pitches. If not, who are you bringing in? Call it ahead of time. I do bring him back because it’s been an easy 98 pitches since the second inning, and I like to see a guy finish what he started. -

Minnesota could get more for Dozier. Plus they are only 5 1/2 behind the Guardians; they won’t be in sell mode yet and if they play like they did the 2nd half last year, they won’t be. -
The one bright side might be the offense really can’t go any lower than today. Okay, it’s the best I could come up with.

Like I said last night, they have the look of a very tired team. 10 games in 11 days crossing 5 time zones and very little time in any one of them. And since they are carrying 13 pitchers, they have only 3 guys they can swap in and out to give someone a break. Swihart, whichever of Nunez and Holt isn’t playing and whichever of Vazquez and Leon isn’t in the game. They need to get back to their own beds. A couple of rainouts wouldn’t hurt either.

I might agree with that if the Sox hadn’t left a small brigade on base the past 2 nights. Putting guys on base constantly can’t have been part of the plan.
