    If Kike is playing a normal 2nd base position it’s an easy play for him. But he was shifted up the middle.

    Cora is playing him way too much. This is the Red Sox 109th game. It is the 95th game Vazquez has appeared in, the 92nd game he’s caught in and the 85th game he has started at catcher.

    Problem is ERod doesn’t really throw a sinker.

    Lee would have driven several posters here crazy since he always gave up a ton of hits. OTOH, with his stuff, he wouldn’t have been given the time of day by scouts after finishing college ball.

    So can ERod go 5? I was just reading some stuff about Bill Lee, the old Sox left hander. A few years ago, he pitched a 9 inning complete game for an independent league team in California. He was almost 66 years old at the time.

    Solo homers don’t hurt a pitcher much. It’s one run and you get to start fresh out of the windup. It’s 4 total bases. Giving up 4 straight singles is also 4 total bases, but it also means at least one run, probably two and you still have 2 or 3 men on base.

    The hits keep on coming; Barnes on the Covid list and unavailable tonight. Who closes? The choice most of this year was Ottavino but with his struggles lately, do they risk turning to him? Maybe Taylor?

    10 runs, 26 LOB (10 tonight) 3-18 with runners in scoring position (1-13 the last 2 games). By contrast, the Rays: 19 runs, 14 LOB 6-20 with runners in scoring position (surprised it was that low).

    No, it’s 0-16. That is really hard to do. You know as much as the Rays use their pen, you’d think one of them wouldn’t have it on a given night. They’ve all had it this entire series. I did like what the ESPN guys said about Tampa Bay and pitching. If they offer you a pitcher, be careful. If they want one of yours, be careful. It really does seem to be true.
