  1. He pitched 6 innings last night. Had they known Pivetta was going on the Covid list today, they would have had him skip that and he’d have pitched today. Of course, gaining that knowledge would have required you to do something other than criticize every move with 20-20 hindsight.
  2. It’s not only who they had, but who’s available. If Pivetta goes on the Covid list yesterday, they keep Seabold from starting last night and he’s pitching today.
  3. He said he didn’t understand the line-up. So I asked other than the obvious change of Devers, what would he do differently? I agree Devers should be in there; the only other reason he wouldn’t be in is if his numbers against Plesac were absolutely putrid, say 0-10 with 9 K’s. That I have no idea of.
  4. 75 innings, Splendid, over 16 games (15 starts) this year. The K/Bb rates are really good. He also had 5 appearances at Portland in 2019 pre TJS.
  5. So other than inserting Devers, what would you do differently?
  6. Seabold pitched 6 innings yesterday, so he's out. My guess would be Richards will get the start. He's the best bet to go multiple innings. Edit - Looks like the Sox called up somebody named Kutter Crawford; he's a starter with Worcester, so I'll assume he's getting the nod. Okay numbers at Portland in 10 games, not so great at Worcester in 6. He's only thrown 75 innings this year so far, but all but one appearance have been starts.
  7. Jalapeños are vegan. Just sayin
  8. Duran added to the Covid list; Wong up for today. Sox also claimed IF Taylor Motter on waivers from the Rockies. The Jack Lopez days seem numbered.
  9. Sí, señor. It would require getting a few guys off the DL and using some pitchers as position players, but it could be done.
  10. I doubt it; these guys are tested pretty regularly.
  11. He does seem to have particular issues with anyone who joined this site in April 2016. You are handling it correctly. To paraphrase War Games, the only way to win is not to play.
  12. Career outfielder trying to play the infield. Arauz late getting to 2nd. Two DPs missed already.
  13. Sale not sharp and iffy D rears it’s head again (tough play, but one that an regular infielder makes).
  14. Renfroe swung at balls 4 and 5
  15. One thing to keep in mind about all minor leaguers is that there were no minor leagues last year. A select few who were destined for AAA (maybe a few at AA) got to go to the alternate sites; the rest went to their local high school field and worked out with whatever local talent they could drum up. That's an entire year of development basically gone for most of them. It had to affected different guys different ways and it also makes evaluating them much more difficult. And less face it, some guys struggle at a Level before figuring it out and sometimes it takes over a year to do that. If the highly touted ones still really suck next year, then you truly have some busts; I don't think you can read much of anything into this year.
  16. He might be able to become an average first baseman with a ton of hard work, but he’s got a lot a work to do on the offensive side as well. If he wants a decent length career, he’s going to have to find the time to work on both in the off-season.
  17. Whatever. Not sure why I took you off ignore, but back you go. Meanwhile, you really need to chill out. Don’t bother answering, I won’t see it.
  18. One more major Red Sox Covid concern; Devers and Bogaerts are like best buds from everything I’ve heard.
  19. The call ups are going to be Braser and Santana. You only get 2. Now there may be a rotating cast for a few slots, especially with Covid raging, but the guys you’ve seen are probably it, at least among the non- pitchers
  20. 1) Why “go off” on anyone? Agree to disagree and move on. 2) Why assume moon reported you? There are any number of regular game thread posters who could have done it.
  21. I think ghost is drinking or taking something before he posts; he seems to become more unhinged the later it gets.
  22. Maybe 2 first basemen would help the D? (Insert huge grin)
  23. Stork was complaining in 2018; need you know more about this alleged fan?
