  1. And I'm still complaining.
  2. Here are some numbers from 2016: 30 2B, 26 HR, 97 R 87 RBI .267 BA .349 OBP.
  3. I was complaining about Middlebrooks in 2012. Sandoval was a bad fit for Boston. I had hopes for Sandoval for this season but now I give up. Time to move on and get a real 3B.
  4. Red Sox team has 12 errors at the 3B position. Every team in the league is doing better than that.
  5. So it's a good thing they aren't paying him $20M. But he sure is earning his money right now.
  6. The same applies to JBJ.
  7. Not an excuse, but a legitimate reason for performance issues. Back in 2008, many were ready to write off Big Papi, who was fighting through a wrist injury. Injuries are not excuses, they are legitimate reasons that performance can be hampered. Let him heal before passing judgement.
  8. I was thinking that might be the case. When a player is hurt you have to temper performance expectations. Let's let JBJ get 100% healthy and see how he does then. His defense is outstanding which is great to have for a CF.
  9. Maybe we could trade Pablo for that kid Travis Shaw. 9 doubles, 1 triple 7 homeruns and 24 runs batted in. He's raking! How do you get a player like that?
  10. Unfortunately, Porcello is not giving us what Porcello gave us last year. I'm just happy Erod is healthy and pitching decently so far.
  11. Without effort you wouldn't get the same defensive results from Pedroia. That's how his uniform gets dirty.
  12. It isn't the dirty uni but the effort that makes it dirty that makes him valuable.
  13. Pedroia is a doubles hitter and should not be expected to provide many HRs. I expected Mookie and Hanley to be our two biggest HR bats. Bogey is more a doubles power hitter than HRs as well. Sox will be missing a bit of HR power with Ortiz gone. They need to make this up with good overall hitting and an increase in doubles. HRs will be probably more evenly divided but will probably go down some in total. They should be able to produce runs even though the month of April did not have much evidence of this.
  14. Pedroia just needs to get on base. He is capable of hitting more doubles, HR's are just a bonus. I expect his doubles production to increase, along with much of the rest of the team. Fenway is a doubles park and Pedroia will get his share this season.
  15. He's not done yet, by a long shot. He hit .288 with a .360 OBP in April.
  16. I think Holt's versatility gives him tremendous value. Even if he isn't a plus defender, he can actually play most positions in a pinch without really hurting the chances of winning a game. maybe you should look at him like the knuckleballer of position players. Unique, in a positive, valuable way.
  17. And you'll still catch crap from me. Holt is a great utility player. His recent problem with injuries and health were unforeseeable. Healthy, I want him on the Sox bench.
  18. Too early to say that. He had one of his best seasons in 2016. The laser show ain't over yet.
  19. Yes, but that is who they are as pitchers. The better pitchers are more often than not more efficient. Most pitchers won't come close to being like Sale. We also don't want lesser pitchers grooving strikes and getting hammered. They can only do what has worked for them so far in their careers.
  20. It is not about IP but pitch count. That is why starters go fewer innings. One long inning can severely limit IP by the starter. Pitch count is how pitchers are managed, and those with lesser stuff are bound to rack up higher counts sooner.
  21. 6 innings is pretty good for a starter. Right now the AL league avg is 5.7 per start. Only the top pitchers will give you 7 or more. Even Porcello is only averaging 6.1 innings per start so far this season. That is why you need a lot of good arms in the bullpen.
  22. Sox could possibly press Barnes or Kelly into duty for spot starts and bring up a bullpen arm.
  23. Well, at least Hanley has the power bat heated up. We need Mookie to provide a bit more power too. Moreland is already a doubles machine. Pedey needs to get completely healthy and try to get into last season's form. Xander is hitting fine, just needs a little more pop in his bat. Benintendi is fine so far. Pretty good core of hitters. A little more power and more timely hitting and the scoring should improve. One strange bugaboo seems to be the trend of hitting into double plays too much so far. Sox have hit into the second most in the AL after Houston. Not sure how you stop that. It's funny how DP's haven't really hurt Houston's scoring or their ability to win games.
  24. We have to hope that Price can get back into the rotation soon. Right now we have to find another starting arm. Looks like Kyle Kendrick will be the first man up. Who knows after that? kyle-kendrick-to-start-in-place-of-steven-wright-who-got-second-opinion-on-knee/
  25. I'm with you. This team will score plenty of runs. I'm disappointed but certainly not in panic mode.
