  1. What overall affect will the "International Signing Ban" have on this year's free agency?
  2. Once we get past Moncada, our minor leaguers are just names to me. So I can't put them in my comments. As far as the present roster is concerned, I can see eRod, Hanigan and even Young, going. Not going, i would guess, are Leon or Swihart. Swihart looks like the updated Nava. OF, IB, DH (after Papi has given way to a runner). In time, a full-timer in LF.
  3. They have not been the highest scoring team in baseball for quite some time. And, what's wrong with getting better? A Betts/Papi back-to-back combo looks like it might have made a big difference in a bunch of the games played over the past 2 or 3 weeks. I probab;y would also take Pedroia and put him him lower. Like Holt, Bradley, Betts, Ortiz, Boegart, Pedroia, Ramiriz, Shaw and the catcher. Two "sluggers" ar 7 and 8, but with consistency where it matters most; up in the 3,4,5 spots. It has always been obvious that JF has limited imagination. Re/Wright, I wonder he read the weather report. This is a repeat of his last game what with the weather being a factor in his ability to control the ball when its damp, rainy, etc. They just had a day off, he could have switched him with someone else.
  4. I've been saying it all year; and maybe part of last year, too. Mookie Betts should not be leading off. It makes zero sense. He should be coupled in the 3-4 spots with Ortiz. Which order? What;s the difference? When he's agressive, he hits, when he isn't he doesn't. When he gets the chance he drives in runs. He comes up with no one on most of the time. Brock Holt takes a million pitches. It's what he does. He hits line drives, fouls off pitches, and sees a lot of pitches. Maybe you agree, and maybe you don't. But just think about it awhile before poo-pooing. The lineup needs a shakeup, and that would get it done.
  5. Guardians trying to help us again. Yop of the 14th (or 15th) in Toronto. I He's still hurting us!ndians load the bases, one out; good old Nap hits into a 5-4-3 DP.
  6. Time for a lineup shakeup!
  7. Watching the Cleveland @ Toronto game. The Guardians, in addition to thevaunted pitching staff, has a lineup that is swinging the bat. Two first pitch home runs in the the couple of i8nnings, Nobody wating around to see if the pitch is a 1/2" inside, or 1/2" outside, See it as a probable strike, hit it! Seems to be working. Only yhte 2 homers in their first four innings but they have 6 hits all together off Dickey.are doing it both sides of the ball.
  8. Was that supposed to be funny?
  9. Been going on long enough. The club needs a severe dressing down, and a sever line up shake up. Here's waht I want to see" Against RH pitchers: Holt, Pedroia, Ortiz, Boegarts, Betts, Bradley, Hanley, Shaw, Leon Against LH pitchers: Switch Holt and Pedroia, and Leon for Vazquez Some alterations here and there. 1) Holt has to get back healthy, and 2) Vasquez needs to catch Wright.
  10. And according to the Rays announcers, Leon is 6 for 12 when he swings at the first pitch!
  11. I were JF, I'd have JBJ on the bench for the rest of the game. Maybe a small, non-public, fine to boot.
  12. Lunch hour over. Venice Cafe (etc) emptying out, but the faithful do not go skipping happily back to work. A long afternoon awaits.
  13. I wonder what Mookie would be hitting (.320-.330?) if he hammered some of those first pitch cookies they are feeding him. Fastball down the middle, or dinky curves that bend of the middle of the plate. The psche is as old as baseball. See a pitch or two. Don't make an easy out for the pitcher on the first pitch. How about getting into the picher's pschy with a line shot into the gap or 2 or 3 bases? IMHO, they only way get Mookie more aggressive is get him the hell out of the leadoff spot!!!! He's an RBI hitter, hitting behind a .210 hitter. I can think of a dozen good lineups that have him 3rd, 5th or 6th. It's infuriating to see this guy wasted taking strike one because that's the way lead off hitters are supposed to do it!
  14. The Rays lineup has 3 guys hitting under .200, and one other guy who is hitting a robust .202.
  15. JBJ---5 straight K's. Is it "here we go again", or a simple aberration? Aberration!
  16. Texas drew 40,000+ for each of the 3 Sox games. The Trop will draw no more than 6000, tonight, no matter what the official announcement says.
  17. I'm surprised Remy hasn't popped him already. He must think everyone is watching their first baseball game. Get rid of this nerd.
  18. Good thing I have a good book. One of Elmore Leonard's, RAYLON. The book is as good as this game is bad, so I'll probably last right to the bitter end.
  19. And they allowed at least 5 runs per game during that stretch.
  20. You should hear the Ray's announcers! (I live in Ft Myers, and have to watch the game of FoxSouth. ExtraInnings blacks out games like this. I'm getting ready to turn off the sound and go to bed.
  21. Time to let Ross and Layne get a couple innings of work. They could use it. This idea of a pitcher going one or 2 innings a week is BS. These guys are supposed to be athletes. Get this guy out of there before he hrts himself!
  22. 55 pitches 2 innings, and the second ended on a CS. Mighta been 70. Not much less tha Greg Maddux might have used for a complete game. I think JF is asleep.
  23. I'm JF, I send hime to Pawtucjet tonight. Say, "call us when you've got a curve ball." I can't remember seeing that consectutive number of 92mph fastball that dead center.
  24. Rays have allowed 5 runs, or more, for eleven straight games. Have fun Big Pape!
  25. Leon's in there tonight. Young lefty for the Rays. Who have Longoria, a couple of decent pitchers, and nothing else. Sox should not lose unless some hot shot shuts them out. Even the wise guy, Archer, has been that great lately.
