    That was my point. Guys like Lester and beltre are outliers that get fans rabid about signing this 32+ guy or that 31+ guys.

    Not bad having these many top prospects with so many recent graduations. Tolle & Early Anthony & Mayer Narvaez & Campbell Rafaela, Abreu & Slaten Duran, Crawford & Bello (not so recent as in '22)

    Better than almost anybody. The funny thing is, IKF has the 7th best OPS on the team, out of 15 batters! He's top tier at .706! Now, break it down to 3 tiers of 5 players: Top: Willson .888, Sogard .833, Ceddanne .792, Wilyer .779 & Gasper .742 Middle: Masa .710, IKF .706, Roman .675, Monasterio .673 & Jarren .672 Bottom: Wong .668, Narv .628, Mayer .581, Story .547, Durbin .479

    The Rays can beat the Yanks, and then we lose to the Rays.

    The Royals scored 27 runs in their 4-1 WS win. They scored 36 runs in their 4-2 win over TOR to make the WS. They scored 25 runs vs HOU in the ALDS. Yes, their O sucked over the year, and so did their rotation.

    At some point, this season, the flaws in the Yankee and Rays' rosters will be exposed. They will have a bad stretch or two, and we can argue that no AL team looks like a strong contender. Perhaps that changes the "crapshoot" perspective. If nobody is goo- all playoff teams have a shot at winning the AL Pennant. (I'm not a believer in this.)

    Agreed, but AGon ended up helping us to dump Crawford (and Beckett.) We shoulda traded Youk and kept Rizzo & Beltre.

    That's the point I've been making. Normally getting to the dance is the goal, and although I've never been a big supporter of the "It's a crapshoot" philosophy, there are surprises from time to time. I see zero evidence this team can advance in the playoffs, and we seem far enough away from that point that even a couple nice deadline adds won't get us to even mid level favorites.

    I agree, fully. Great glove- great bat. AGon at 1B, Youk at 3B and Papi at DH made it tough, but Youk fell off a cliff a couple years later, which made all the "what ifs" hurt even more.

    63-45 would probable get them to the dance, but what fun is a one-legged dancer?

    There are only a handful of owners who spend money like they don't care. More owners have outspent JH in recent years than earlier, but even going back 5-6 years, JH is still a bigger spender than over half the owners and maybe close to 2/3. Looking at new spending from 2025 to 2026, there are just a few teams that spent more. This is not defending JH, but why do so many seem to assume the next owner will spend more or spend and hire better people to run the team? I know people don't like to hear the old "be careful what you wish for," but that old saying has some merit.

    19 runs scored in 3 games and 1 win. UggHHH!

    Bennett pitched well in Woo's 8-1 win. 5 IP, 4H, 1ER, 1BB & 7Ks. Seigler is heating up as he homered & went 3-5. He's at .866, now. Ward, Eati=on, Capra and Castro all had 2 hits. POR won 6-2 as Wehunt went 6 (3H, 1ER, 1BB, 8K) Arias homered (2-5) as did Jo Garcia (.791) & Turner (.781.) GRE won 11-5. Phillips struggled. Azocar's promotion has been stunning- he homered again and went 2-4. (1.500 in 2 gms) Mason White went 3-4 (.895) and Ro Hernandez homered and went 3-4 (1.248.) GRE had 11 hits and 8 BBs. SAL lost 4-2. Cohen pitched 4 great innings in relief.Salazar went 2-4.
