  1. Sounds good. To be in last place when the league sucks this bad is "doubly" sucky. Our strength of schedule must be about middle tier, so there are no excuses to how badly we suck. I guess Fred thinks two teams with -41 run differentials (HOU & BAL) are better than us on paper. The Athletics at -25 is too. MIN at -13 just killed us, so at least they have a case to be made. I'm just not sure some realize just how bad so many other teams are. Again, it's no solace to the fact that we doubly suck.
  2. I guess Ole Red thinks you are useless, too.
  3. I could care less either way. I guess if we get lucky and win round one, I might gain a glimmer of hope, but no way this team even makes the WS. As of now, I'm for selling. None of this changes the fact that the other 12 teams in the AL such as badly or nearly so as we do.
  4. Yes, we are embarrasingly sucky. To suck this badly in a weak league is super sucky. I'm not saying we don't suck.
  5. Maybe they have better stats than us. They have a whopping 9 run differential lead on us. Of the six teams between us and the playoffs, 4 have worse run differentials (two by 32 runs!) That's not to say run differential is an exact science, but there is about 110 games left to play. No other team, other than the NYY and TBR have a clearly better roster than us in the AL. If we keep playing like this, the chances of sneaking in are not good, but even playing this badly, a chance remains. Again, not because I have faith we might do better, but only because I have equal faith in most of those 6 teams doing worse. Two teams ahead of those 6 are the 29-27 CWS and the 27-29 TOR Blue Jays. Both of them can collapse at any minute.
  6. I've gone out of my way to say it's not an endorsement. It is not a "feather in the cap." We suck. My point is others may suck more. If you think that sounds like an endorsement, I'm not sure what else to say. Also, I'm not predicting we make the playoffs. I've actually said that if the deadline were today, I'd sell, sell, sell. Does that sound like an endorsement, too?
  7. My argument has merit. We suck. As of now, all but two AL teams suck too. It's a free-for-all on who makes the playoffs. Just because we suck, doesn't mean we are out of the playoff hunt. Please don't tell me the rosters on the other 12 AL teams impress you. You are smarter than that.
  8. I'm not betting on the Sox. I would not bet against hardly any AL team not reaching .475. That's the point. It's no feather in the Sox cap to back into the playoffs with a losing record. I'll ask you this... The CWS are not even the last WC team, right now. They are 1.5 up. Would you bet on them making the playoffs? If so, tell me what about their roster gives you more hope. The Twins and A's are tied for the third WC slot- same question there. True, there are 4 other teams between us, but the way everyone is playing, a 5 game win streak can move someone from 10th to 6th. Now, will I bet we can win 5 straight? HELL NO!
  9. Silly BTV accepts: Mayer, Duran, Bello, Durbin & Phillips for Neto
  10. I was against Mayer earlier, because we'd still need another infielder. With Story out, we'd need two more besides Adames, Neto or KMarte. I'm okay trading prospects for longer term players, and Neto is the youngest of this group, so I'd focus on him.
  11. Rafaela has shown improvement for a few years in a row. BB% 2.6 in '24 4.8 in '25 6.1 in '26, so far. K% 24% '23-'25 21% in 2026 OBP .284 before '26 .350 in 2026 SLG .401 pre 2026 .441 in 2026 He will probably have a noticeable slump at some point, and our resident cynic will spring to life about it, but the guy is getting better and is just 25.
  12. I disagree. I do think KC was called up too early, but he was the prospect of the year, and we sucked at 2B, so I'm not making a fuss over it.
  13. BTV accepts: Bello (owed $49M) & Duran (owed about $34M) for Adames (owed $139M/5.7 yrs) plus $20M cash Total cost is less than $40M for the Sox.
  14. His Ward fixation is psyche ward worthy.
  15. Mayer Duran looks best, to me, but if this is being done to make a push for this year, it won't happen.
  16. I suggested numerous Neto trades, a few months back. I think the Angels are asking too much.
  17. I'd probably would, but only because Bello is owed about $49M. That cut's the cost of Adames from $129M to about $80M for 5.7 years.
  18. I think they need a floor that rises dramatically over the terms of the new CBA. Offer the players double the min wage, one less arb year and maybe expand the roster to 27. The majority of players would vote yes, IMO, even if the union recommends a no vote. I'm okay with some sort of soft cap, but it's not a big deal to me.
  19. The league sucks, too. The bar is set so low a .475 winning % can make the dance.
