  1. soxprospects.com's podcast said there might not be innings limits on Tolle and Bennett, but I doubt we see a complete game unless it's on 90 pitches.
  2. IF AR waits until SEPT, we can carry 3 catcher. We could for a few days before, too, by demoting someone else.
  3. That year did create a sense of entitlement we have not gotten over.
  4. I think we bunted more last night, that all the 2026 games under Cora combined. (Hyperbole alert.)
  5. No. A drunken Ole Red had a verbal altercation with both at a bar. He hurled insults about Mayer being a "Marshmello" and called Anthony "Little A with a broken pinky."
  6. That's what they said about the Gio signing. Some even grumbled about the Crochet trade and extension. It's always hindsight judging with some. I like the Mead trade. I'm skeptical of the AR & Miller trades, but not upset over either.
  7. I'm not. The Mead trade gave up several more years of Early for what we hoped was an instant boost to the offense. I liked the trade, but it's not like that trade can be given an A, just yet, and even if Mead was healthy.
  8. Understandable, and it's not like Witherspoon is just a minor throw-in, either.
  9. Godbout back from IL.
  10. He said "fairly legit." Why misquote him? I do think 80 BBs in 130 IP is enough ammo to add the word "fairly."
  11. If there was no AR trade and nothing to replace it (no chance,) we'd look at this deadline like the last few. Meh!
  12. How our SS position does to end the year might be the one we look back and say, why? I agree on the no innings eater thing, but replacing Watson and Uberstine with Miller looks nice, despite all his walks.
  13. Azocar was our 6th ranked prospect, but was pretty far away and has a lot to prove, Brez helped the team for 2 playoff cycles, assuming AR is healthy for 2 Octobers. We may or may not have hurt our future. While AR's future health is the great unknown, those we traded are production unknowns, too.
  14. Yup! Even IKF hit over .700 and gave solid defense before going on the IL, and Cheng did very well on defense. The one trade not made last deadline (Tolle) might have been as big as some we made last winter. We are 5-0 in Sandoval starts! Coulombe did okay for the 8th RP'er, before he was DFA'd. Gamboa (2.08) pitched well. Not many failed.
  15. Updated soxprospects.com rankings: https://soxprospects.com/ 1. Arias (on fire) 2. Gonzales (.843) 3. Primera (turning heads) 4. Godbout (back from IL) 5. Valera (our #1 pitching prospect, now) 6. Schaffner (nice pro start) 7. Delzine (2.16 ERA) 8. Owen Hull (another nice pro start) 9. Holobetz (a sign of a weakened farm) 10. Rivas (.772) 11. Wehunt (3.86) 12. Phillips (may drop, if he doesn't turn it around, soon) 13. Mataczynski (HS draftee) 14. Cespedes (in AA now) 15. Shelar (another HS draftee) 16. Soto (dropping despite higher-ranked departures) 17. Bastardo (AAA) 18. Paez (AA) 19. Rivera (AAA) 20. Gutierrez (part of Mayer trade) 21. Winnay (unranked last time!) 22. Romero (falling like a led balloon) 23. Mullins (having a bad year) 24. Gerardo Rodriquez (Catcher at A+) 25. Mason White (AA up from #38) 26. Dylan Brown (A+ pitcher) 27. Luke Heyman (Catcher at A+) 28. Monegro (hanging around) 29. Ramos (dropped a bit) 30. Silverio (17 yrs old) 31. Castro (not in my top 50) 32. Kaleb LaFavor (draftee) 33. Brito (DSL) 34. Ziehl (Hicks/Sandlin grade) 35. Brannon (no respect!) 36. Jo Garcia (no respect!) 37. I Jackson (Grissom trade) 38. Finley (A-) 39. Andujar (NR before) 40. Barrett Morgan (on IL) Drops: Bleis 33>43 Cason 37>41 A Guzman 43>51
  16. With ghost runners, it may happen again, but that is stunning what they did. Remember how this team had "issues" with extra innings, now look-see!
  17. He was just as scary through the playoffs, too, but somehow he kept getting the saves.
  18. I hate to break something that is working, but maybe Whitlock needs to be given some more 9th inning appearances.
  19. It seemed to be worth more when I was teen for those mid 70's teams, but yes, this is more fun. Then, it was often heart-breaking. 2018 wire to wire was the funnest full season. The 2004 season was the funnest ending. The 2013 season was most surprising.
