  1. Ohhhh. That makes a big difference. Proceed.
  2. Good take on Lou. The fact is, most of us had higher expectations on several Sox players that have really stunk up the place. Of the top 9 in PAs Sox batters, we have 5 hideous OPS numbers: .451 Durbin .529 Story (leads in PAs) .549 Narvaez .571 Duran .603 Mayer Our #3 PA leader is at .686 (Anthony) and two of our 10-12 PA leaders are as such: .412 IKF .544 Monasterio (Can Cheng really be much worse than this?) It looks like #10 Yoshida (.806) might crack the top 9, soon, and maybe Wong (.789) might eventually pass Narvaez in PAs, but there is no guarantee these two are still hitting this well, when and if they do make it top 10.
  3. Great point. I will say that the roster got so bad around 2020, that there was a big need to build up the full 40 man roster and farm system. A couple big stars was not bringing us a ring anytime too soon. Here is a look at the opening day 2021 roster: Nate, Houck, Pivetta, Richards, Perez (Sale & ERod on IL) Ottavino, Barnes, DHern, Sawamura, Taylor, Andriese, Whitlock, Brice, Valdez (Schreiber & Brasier on IL) Vazquez, Plawecki, Dalbec, Kike (2B) Bogy, Devers, Cordero, Verdugo (CF) Renfroe, JD, Arroyo & Marwin AAA had just about nothing very promising, except Duran, Chavis & Downs It took years for Bloom to build up the farm and 40 man roster depth, and some will argue he did a poor job and or that it took too long, especially after he was allowed to spend a little more (Story, Masa, Richards, kluber, Paxton...)
  4. You taking over my role as posting this after slamming me for doing it? Typical.
  5. I love Merloni, and he also said this was going to be Crawford's year, so as you can see, we all gets somethings wrong, except you, of course.
  6. It was a mistake, but it was somewhat understandable, and in light of the shifting philosophy on spending that saw us not bring Kimbrel of Kelly back, or replace them in kind, I think we know what the initial problem was that started all this, and also led to the Betts departure the following winter. The uptick in spending hasn't even got us even with where we were, within the context of how much other teams have upticked their spending patterns. While teams can and do win with a balanced roster, most win with at least a couple bonafide stars or superstars.
  7. I've been a huge Cora supporter for a long time. I'm not sure firing him is a good idea, but this team looks listless and rudderless. I always hesitate to blame the manager, when the players underperform, and maybe these guys were just not as good as some of us felt they were/are, but it looks like something needs shaking up, and Cora is not the guy to make major moves that involve sitting vets or moving them off positions they no longer belong. OPS 2025>2026 .786>.783 Abreu .708>.712 Rafaela .696>806 Yoshida .500>789 Wong ___________________ The killers... .859>.686 Anthony .774> .571 Duran .741> .529 Story .726>.549 Narvaez .674>.603 Mayer __________________ .905 Devers>.000 Mr. Cricketts .821 Bregman> 829 Contreras .790 Lowe, .838 Ref & .826 Romy and ,664 KC, .661 Sogard, .659 Toro, .590 DHam, .580 Casas > .451 Durbin, .412 IKF & .544 Monasterio
  8. This was a cheap trade, and if it was Duran for IP, it's about no cost. No Duran and IKP would be cheaper than IP.
  9. Not on this one. IKF costs $6M and Paredes $9M. It wasn't Henry stopping this deal.
  10. 3 farm teams lost today, 2 by 1 run. Bennett did okay: 4.2IP 4H 1ER 1BB 3K. Sweet & Keller walked 8 batters in 3 IP, KC, Romero, Eaton & Sogard all had 2 hits. POR got drilled 13-8. Yup, Arias had 2 hits, including a dinger. His OPS is back up to 1.431. GRE is playing now. Patton pitched poorly for SAL. Heyman had a couple hits and Salazar & Jimenez homered.
  11. Rivera will be pitcher #18. We've yet to see Tolle, Crawford & Sandoval, as well as Bennett- the only pitchers left on the 40 not used, so far. Woo pitchers not on the 40: Gamboa, Coffey, Bastardo, Guerrero, Kahnle, Keller, Martinez, Song, Sweet, Webb, Sena, Olds (Uberstine & Sikkema on IL) POR hopefuls: Holobetz, Mullins, Paez, Cooper Adams & Wehunt/Rogers Pitchers on IL: 60 Day: Houck & Oviedo 15 Day: Gray, Crawford, Sandoval & Slaten
  12. Casas to 60 Day (no surprise.) Eduardo Rivera added to 40. Anderson demoted and Rivera added to 26.
  13. Sometimes friends can bring out the best of us: sometimes the worst.
  14. fWAR tells a different story. I'll bet you $1,000 IP doubles the fWAR of Durbin this season.
  15. I don't disagree. Almost everyone of our returning vets had underperformed, and tweaking an off season move or two would probably mean maybe 1-2 more wins. Even a major tweak like a Neto addition might not have helped much. Maybe it's easier to point to things we could have changed or done differently than to keep harping on the foundation just not being good enough. When compared to the returnees, Suarez, Contreras and Gray have done fine. Nobody expected great things from IKF, Oviedo & Durbin.
  16. Yup. Deflection as expected. Can't answer. I asked about the bat not defense, but you misunderstood, once again.
  17. You ridicule my use of OPS, so this is too funny.
