    While I think BTV overvalues Duran (46) and undervalues Paredes (12) I don't think 3 years of Duran is equal to 2 years of Paredes. Yes, we are "desperate" for an infielder, but HOU is desperate for an OF'er. If we trade Duran for Paredes, I'd want 2 from this group: B King, Sousa, Abreu or their catching prospect Janek. (Maybe just one and some decent prospect.)

    Depends how you rate SP'ers. If you go by the idea that a #1 is a top 3 SP'er, and a #2 is 31-60 and so on, then fWAR would score them this way from 2025's numbers: #1 Crochet (4th ranked) #1 Gray (20th) #2 Bello (60th) #5 Oviedo & Harrison NR Sandoval & Crawford We lost a #3 Giolito (65th) and maybe a #3 in Dobbins (#114th in a half season) plus #5s Buehler, Fitts & Houck.

    I think HOU wants an OF'er. They love taking pitchers they think are an Astros tweek away from a CY Young Award, but it's hard to know if they spot one on the Sox roster. If they were high on Campbell, a one-for-one trade works well on BTV. I'd even add a mis level prospect, too, if needed- maybe Phillips or Eyanson.

    I think we're a better team with just a decent addition at 3B (or 2B) but I was hoping for significantly more.

    We can but we want Mayer at 2B or 3B. I'd be fine with Geno & Paredes and then trade Duran, Mayer, Casas and Witherspoon for Skenes. LOL

    Most felt we needed to add more than Chapman and Wilson. Some viewed Hendriks as the most likely closer, if healthy.

    I know I've said this before, but if we had these same 3 pitchers topping our rotation and beginning the year on the IL, the sky would be falling. Yet, most here, including myself, have the Yanks projected with more wins than BOS in 2026.

    The 2013 spending spree barely replaced the money "saved" with the Dodger salary dump trade the year before. Ben's early spending seemed limited. We all wished he'd have signed Scherzer not Pablito and HRam, but instead we got that ugly pair and then spent on Price the next year. That was DD's big splurge moment. He did not really spend much on FAs between Price and JD, but those two were biggies.
