    I think the rule is the AAV is recalculated after a trade, so the hit on BOS would be $32M ($286M/9) I'd rather we trade for KMarte ($19.5M AAV) or sign Alonso.

    If we are counting on getting better with Casas and Mayer picking up the slack, count me out. Also counting on an .823 OPS at DH in 2026, something Masa has never reached is a stretch.

    I say this every year, and then there is a new group of bottom dwellers with 730 or more PAs. in 2024... 223 PAs E valdes .633 158 McGuire .575 114 Grissom .465 96 Jansen .623 93 Dalbec .410 86 Sogard .650 75 Cooper .455 64 Reyes .451 48 Westbrook .584 (Not to mention .664 from Rafaela w 571 PAs & DHam at .697 w 317 PAs.)

    Great! Keep him away from Brez! Apparently he's getting $51M/3, but some is deferred, so the actual amount will count as lower. I heard the Dodgers will go after E Diaz, so how much will he make after seeing this deal?

    I'm 99.9% sure we aren't getting two bats, so I'm pulling for the one we do get to be one of the top 3. 1. K Marte, and he fills the 2B need. (Switch hitter, too.) 2. Schwarber, but he'd have to play 1B or push Masa to LF or the bench. (Trade Duran?) 3. Alonso is a bad defensive 1Bman, but so is Casas. He'll probably DH eventually. (Bragman, Bichette or Polanco barely keep us even.)

    I'd be thrilled at getting 3 years of this guy. (Ages 28-30.) They won't take Duran & Crawford, no matter what BTV say. It might take Duran, Early and Sandlin.

    Gio had no injury history, but Buehler & Sandoval did. In the pen, Hendriks was an injury signing, but Chapman & Wilson were not. He inherited Jansen & Martin year one.

    So many pitchers with "great stuff" never break through. Of course, you have a better shot with great stuff than without, but yes, it's time to get results.

    Okay. The Schilling deal was NOV '03, but I was thinking it was for 2004, so I counted it. We've done way better in trades, for sure. Peavy did okay, too, but that was not like Nate and the others listed.

    BTV has Ragans at 79.4 and Duran at 49.5. I'd love to see Duran + Crawford (22) for Ragans. That would take the heat off needing big bats, but I'd still like one big one (KMarte or Alonso?) Ragans is signed for 2 years and then has a final arb year. $4.5M '26, $7.5M '27, then arb. Duran is $7.7M and Crawford might make $2.8M, so that trade would "save" $6M in 2026. Add that to $21M or so and we'd have enough to sign one big bat, or trade for KMarte at $19.5M AAV.

    I don't let deals like that one bug me, for just the reason you stated. Plus, I like Holobetz and maybe one of the others jumps up, this year.
