  1. You wanna deny that if Gio lets up the lead you won't pivot back and say "I was right!"
  2. Nope, this can't be true. The resident expert of flops said earlier.. Giolito isn’t looking good
  3. I'm staying on the site for Sox fans and a few malcontents and pretenders.
  4. They probably have a site you can join as a Guardian fan. Adios.
  5. Not because he's milking an injury. It's because others have talked me out of trading Duran.
  6. If you add all the singles, doubles and even homers he's robbed to his offense, he's have an OPS over .800, for sure- maybe even .850 to .900.
  7. I've said all along, "Give Yoshida as long a leash as he needs!" (Or something like that!)
  8. Wow. The guy is about to win a GG and was our HR leader before the injury.
  9. Bang the Drum Slowly was a great movie. I don't want the Sox to become terminally Ill. I want them singing "'Cause there's a brand new game that I wanna play."
  10. If you guys want offense and screw the defense, then let Breggie walk, trade Rafaela and others for Marte, then sign Suarez for 3B and Alonso for 1B. 1. Anthony LF 2. Marte 2B 3. Suarez 3B 4. Alonso 1B 5. Story SS 6. Duran CF 7. Abreu RF 8. Casas/Romy DH 9. Narvaez C
  11. So, Brez should hire Cora to be his own boss? Isn't the GM usually the guy doing the talking?
  12. The A's line-up by OPS: 1. 1.014 (32 HRs) 2. .842 (30 HRs) 3. .832 (29 HRs) 4. .827 (24 HRs) 5. .814 (w a .359 OBP) 6. .721 (20 HRs) 7. .954 (11 XBHs in 77 PAs) 8. .656 9. .794
  13. He has no experience actually banging. He's good at delegating that task, though.
  14. He's listed as day-to-day. There was talk he might be ready by the A's series of the weekend series. Cora, yesterday, “(Abreu hit on Monday). He was a little bit sore, but not tight,” Cora said, as transcribed by Christopher Smith of MassLive. “I think it’s more about the workload on Sunday. He walked in (Tuesday) and said he felt better, so we’ll see what’s on the table and see where we’re at.”
  15. Yes, but one never knows, if we could have offered someone else with Casas to get Woo. (Too bad you guys didn't demand DHam and ICampbell... LOL!
  16. Abreu is pre-arb, so he should be a fit for MIN anyway, but a third team might help. Another aspect might be how willing we are to include one of our many pitching prospects. 7 of our top 9 and 12 of our top 20 prospects are pitchers. Couple that idea with the fact that we have a pretty long list of good or promising pitchers coming back from injury, like Crawford, Sandoval, Dobbins, Fitts, Perales and others, one could argue we can afford to include one or two in any package(s.)
  17. At the time, I though, "Oh Man!" I agree, but still, we need to get a run, there. It also seems like those situations set the tone for the rest of the game. A big hit, instead might have unleashed a couple crooked number innings. Another thing that happened was it looked like Romy slipped on his swing and DP ball, slowing him down. He might have still been out, but it made me wonder.
  18. I'm pretty certain the top Sox guys don't view Cora as a negative manager. It would be about wanting him in a higher role plus him wanting it, too. It makes sense that they use this winter and the GM opening to promote him. I like him as a manager. I think he has dealt with some seriously flawed rosters- 25, 26 and 40's. He's not really had more injuries than some other teams, but this year was too many to key players, on top of his boss taking away his best batter in early June.
  19. He could take DHam's or the 3rd catcher's slot without causing any issues.
  20. vs the RHP Barnett: L Duran LF R Story SS R Bregman 3B L Yoshida DH R Romy 2B R Ref RF L Lowe 1B R Narvaez C R Rafaela CF 6 RHBs. Scary looking line-up- like Halloween scary!
  21. If that is the case, then asking for Pablo or Buxton with Ryan without giving much salary back, might be the trick. Pablo is owed $121.75M x 2 ($18.4 AAV) Buxton is owed $15.1M x 3 ($14.3M AAV) While taking back Duran at $8M or 3 arbs or Rafaela $48M/6 still owed may seem like too much, the savings would still be significant. Abreu is still pre-arb, followed by 3 arbs. Taking Rafaela might be okay, since he gets paid very little for the next 2-3 years, and maybe they can trade him, later, if he still has value. His AAV is just $6.2M, but including him on a deal would lessen the tax line hit. He's cheaper per year than Buxton by a lot. Would MIN take Rafaela, Campbell, Crawford (arb 2 of 4 pending) Clarke and Sandlin or Mullins for Buxton & Ryan? I'm not sure JH would pay for Lopez & Buxton, even if we gave back Duran and Hicks (higher cost players)
  22. Probably not, unless we wow'd them. Rumor was Casas was offered with others.
  23. We are not going anywhere, if we keep hitting like this. The good thing about baseball is that games and stats are rarely repeated over and over. Players and teams have ups and downs. The team has a .676 OPS over the last 14 days, and of the 11 batters with 25+ PAs (actually 13+, but all have 25+.) 4 are REAL bad (OPS): .244 Rafaela .439 Yoshida .483 Lowe .576 Bregman 3 are decent: .750 Duran .777 Sogard .793 Story 4 are good: .857 Eaton .864 Narvaez .868 Romy .929 Refsnyder (Wong is at .833 in 12 PAs/ DHam is at .432 in 12 PAs)
