We have 8 guys with an OPS over .800 over the last 4 weeks! 7 are over .872! 9 are over .756. 1.110 Vaz (Is this for real?) 1.004 Chavis (Can he keep this up or even .800+ the rest of the way?) .998 Betts (Returning to form.) .952 Devers (.354 BA is shocking.) .888 Bogey (Steady Bogey.) .883 Moreland (Back to his first half heroics.) .873 JD (If he gets back to 1.000, watch out!) .810 Leon (SCM must have morning sickness.) .756 Beni (I'm expecting a break-out streak.) .535 Nunez (Why he is DH'ing, I'll never know.) .522 JBJ (Maybe that HR will spark a hot streak) .403 Pearce (I'm losing hope.)

I could definitely see that. I've talked of Devers moving to 1B, eventually, many times, but I always said he should get a chance to prove himself at 3B first. I'm think Chavis will be our 1Bman next year, assuming he doesn't fall off a cliff. Holt & Nunez are FAs, so we may sign a (cheap) 2Bman this winter. I doubt we go with Pedey, Lin and Chatham.

I do think hitters face pitchers closer to ML'ers than in AA.

He threw hate at about 10 Sox players all winter long. Two off them are off to bad starts (JBJ & Brasier), but I'm sure all you hear about is about those 2.

Those last 64 IP, including the playoffs have to be unmatched, at least by a RP'er. Maybe Bob Gibson had a better stretch back in '68. Bob went 11 straight games with... 11 CG (99 IP) 0.27 ERA .390 OPS against 83 K and 13 BB

Here's something even sicker.... Over his last 47 games of 2013 (50 IP): June 10-end of season 167 PAs against 15 hits 3 BB (1 Intentional) 1 HR 67 Ks (if you take away the IBB, his K/BB ratio was 33.5 to 1.) 2 ER (0.36 ERA) .092 BA .108 OBP .147 SLG .255 OPS Then, he won the ALCS MVP and had these playoff numbers in 2013: 13.2 IP 6 H 0 BB .439 WHIP 16K (Infinity K/BB rate) 1 ER (a solo blast) 1 bad pitch while facing 46 batters on playoff teams!

He never walked anybody (Hyperbole alert). That 2013 season say these shockingly great numbers: 265 PAs against 9 BB (2 intentional) 1 HBP 5 HR .130 BA against .163 OBP .237 SLG .400 OPS Against (which is less than JBJ's current OPS!) 101 Ks (12.2 per 9 IP) Even Mo never had a season like this. His lowest WHIP in a season was 0.665 in 2008 (Career 1.000) His best K/BB rate was 12.83 his rookie year. He never got above 7.5 again (4.10 career)

Well, one could consider Chavis part of the bench, and he has helped enormously. True, he's a starter now, but I still count him as a bench guy who won the job by playing well. Nunez and pearce have been putrid. Leon is actually doing very well. Even his hitting has been 100 points higher than last year.

We likely will not keep Chavis, Pedey, Holt & Nunez on the 25 man roster. Only Chavis has options, but he's not being demoted. Pedey will not be DFA'd or traded. It will be Nunez vs Holt, unless e dump Pearce to keep all 4. Holt may be the one "sacrificed" to keep Pedey. As of right now, I'd make it Nunez vs Pearce with Pearce being the one. Chavis and Holt can play 1B.

Yes, as of right now, I'd send Brewer down over Weber. As much as I dislike Thornburg's chances at redemption, I don't think I'd DFA him to keep Weber on the 25. I would to keep Holt, Nunez, Pierce or Pedey

That was certainly a better year than Foulke's 2004 ring year. I'm fine with this.... (Since 1970) 1. Uehara 2. Kimbrel 3. Gordon 4. Foulke (At least for best season as a closer.)

No way. I was just pointing out something surprising about Fitzy. I would move Dalbec to AAA, because I think he needs to face more veteran pitchers. Duran should probably be moved up at some point, if only to challenge him with better pitching. I trust Sox management to move these guys when they are ready.

Yes, I forgot him! His best season: 1.008 WHIP and 3.12 K/BB in 1998. It was a one year bonanza as our closer. 73 appearances and 79.1 IP helps his case. Honorable mention.

2015? His best season was just last year (.774 OPS in 367 PAs). He was .727 in 2015 in 454 PAs. He's .701 career and is almost identical vs LHPs and RHPs. He can play 1B and better OF than Nunez and his gimpy knee. Nunez has a .701 OPS with the Sox and has gotten worse. His knee is toast. Yes, Pearce has higher upside, offensively, but I'm not so sure Nunez does.

He was the best closer I've ever seen on the Sox. Kimbrel, Papelbon and that one year from Foulke were close. That .565 WHIP and 11.2 K/BB in 2013 were spectacular. His 0.818 career WHIP with the Sox was amazing (11.6 K/BB) with Sox only.... Kimbrel: 0.903/ 4.07 K/BB (Best season: 0.681 in 2017) Papelbon 1.018/ 4.43 K/BB (Best season: 0.771 in 2007)

I have so little faith in Brewer and Thornburg that I'd probably keep Weber on the big club for a few more shots at showing he's better. I'd keep Holt over Nunez and Pearce.
