  1. Well, that was over $23M spent on a team already outspending everyone else- most by nearly double. I doubt we ever go over the max line again. I think we reset after 2020, but I'd prefer this winter. I doubt we go over the second line, except when we really think we are the faves. We still have a decent core to keep and build around. We have some high contracts, but hopes that they can all contribute, except Pedey's. We have no CC's, Pablitos or HRams. We have a few farm scraps that can fill roles while we rebuild, and maybe 1 or 2 stick around afterwards. DHern Marco Chavis Travis/Dalbec/Ockimey Chatham/Lin Duran Walden/Taylor
  2. He must have thought 2019 had a good chance, or he wouldn't have (allowed) signed Eovaldi & Pearce.
  3. The Good Bogaerts .932 Devers .928 Vazquez .809 Workman 1.87 Walden 3.30 JTaylor 3.34 (Marco .862 & Travis .771 in limited duty) The Bad (or not so Good/not reached expectations) JD Martinez .943 (but just 71 rbis) Betts .882 (Just 62 rbis) Beni .825 (just 60 rbis) Moreland .826 (hurt too much-again) B Holt .811 (hurt too much, again) Chavis .766 (sub .700 since his friat 14 games) Leon .576 (pitcher magic not enough) Sale 4.41 (inconsistent) Price 4.36 (low innings) ERod 4.17 (fading) The Ugly JBJ .696 (all in one 6 week hot streak) Nunez, Pearce, Pedey, Swihart (no numbers needed) Porcello 5.67 Barnes 4.70 Cashner,Wright, Johnson, Velazquez, Weber, Shawaryn Hembree, Brasier, Poyner, TKelley, Brewer, Lakins, Thornburg, ERamirez, JSmith
  4. DFA Porcello & Cashner.
  5. Yup. I was thinking they may go 2.1 or 2.2, but Walden pulled a Barnes on us.
  6. Yes, they greatly suck. DFA Porcello and Cashner tonight. Make room on the roster for some kids.
  7. I don't either, but I think resetting after this year makes the most sense, especially if we want to keep Betts.
  8. Now, the pen let's up one run in 3 IP and gets the blame for the loss.
  9. That's what I called it: the anti universe of 2018.
  10. How about these K rates? 17.6 D Hernandez 15.8 Barnes 14.2 Shawaryn 13.2 Sale 12.4 Workman 12.2 Taylor 10.8 Price & Hembree 9.3 Walden 9.0 ERod
  11. We can reset without trading Betts, but trading him makes more sense for a rebuild. We could then re-sign him for 2021 or some other quality FA(s). We could also try to trade JD with cash.
  12. I gave up on Travis long ago, but we have nothing to lose by giving him one more shot to show what he's got.
  13. Agreed, but he stuck around 8 years, of which 3 saw him get 500+ PAs. He led the league in HRs one year with 41. He had 131 HRs in a 2261 PA stretch. His career OBP was .312.
  14. Big assumption, but say we choose a total reset next season and shoot for a quick turn-around and possible contention in 2021. We could see this: (No JBJ, Holt, Leon) C: Vaz & Centeno 1B: Dalbec & Ockimey (Chavis from 2B/Travis from LF) 2B: Chavis & Marco (AAA: Chatham) 3B: Devers (Dalbec from 1B) SS: Bogaerts (Marco) (AAA: Lin) LF: Travis (JDM from DH CF: Beni (for one year, then back to LF) (AAA: Duran) RF: Betts (to be re-signed) DH: JDM (Ockimey from 1B) Pitchers: (No Porcello) SP: Sale, Price, ERod, Eovaldi & Johnson/Wright/Velazquez/D Hernandez/Houck RP: Workman, Barnes, Hembree, Taylor, Walden, Brasier/Brewer (SP'er not the 5th starter) Lakins/Poyner/Feltman/Shawaryn/DReyes Get a decent draft pick in 2020 and 2021, and then spend big for 2021 and keep the guys from above that look promising.
  15. The .356 OBP is the only thing, besides the power, that gives him a snowball's chance in hell.
  16. SUNY at Geneseo https://www.geneseo.edu
  17. ...and several pitched more seasons than today's pansies.
  18. I lived in Geneseo from 1963-65. My Dad taught at the university.
  19. Nope. He let up 6 runs once. That was the most he let up that year. His next highest was 4 (only once). 29 starts: 27 with 3 or less ERs allowed!
  20. That is much clearer. Thanks.
  21. I still think we can do better. Matz is a no brainer no. Nimmo does not do much for me. I might listen, if they offer 2 yrs of Conforto and 3 yrs of Seth Lugo for Betts, Barnes and Johnson.
  22. So, if we made this trade, we shouldn't trade ERod? The rebuild is complete in one deal, and we're competitive again?
  23. You said we should trade ERod, because he has only 2 years of control. Now, you want to trade our only big chip for an injury riddled pitcher with 2 years of team control. Nimmo does not make up the difference. We can get better from somebody.
  24. I disagree with a lot of this. He was not anointed the next VTek. Vaz was recovering from an injury the following year and took the job from Swihart very early that year. "Forcing" him to the OF did not ruin him. He should have been DFA'd back then. Giving him a chance as an OF'er was an extra chance. Nobody thwarted Swihart's growth but himself. He got way more chances than he deserved not less.
