    Porcello, JBJ, Moreland, Pearce, Nunez & Holt. Replaced with DHernandez, JD to the OF full time, Dalebec & Chavis at DH, 3B or 1B, and Chatham at 2B, unless Pedey stays healthy. No pen upgrades. Scary bench. Maybe no "cliff," but we'll need some surprises to stay strong, unless we keep spending near the max line.

    My whole "cliff" premise is based on the idea that the Sox will reset after 2019 or 2020. If we do, we will not be highly competitive that season. If that sounds like a walk back of the "cliff" talk, so be it. I'll be happy to eat crow. If Betts makes $28M in arb, we cannot reset next year, unless we deal salary. (see the Realistic thread for my update on the 2020 budget.)

    I love the Sale & Bogey deals. I wish we could get Betts to take a discount, but I don't blame him for wanting the biggest payday possible.

    I'm toast. I usually do two pools, and my second choice was Mich St. Nobody took them out of 49 entries!

    I said "probably," but let's see how their next starts go. One could surmise they should be where they were last year after ST'ing and begin to dominate. I hope the payoff in late season was worth it.

    The deal is worth $132MM over seven years, as per ESPN.com’s Jeff Passan (Twitter links), though this counts the $12MM that Bogaerts is already earning for the 2019 season in his final year of arbitration eligibility. As MLB.com’s Mark Feinsand notes, the extension is really a six-year, $120MM deal covering the 2020-25 seasons. The contract also has a vesting option for 2026 according to the New York Post’s Joel Sherman (Twitter links), with an opt-out clause after the third season. Bogaerts is represented by the Boras Corporation. -MLBTR $20M x 6 is an outright steal!

    It looks like the lack of preparation probably had something to do with the bad starts by all of our rotation, so far, but it's hard to know for sure. Here's a comp between 2018 and 2019...     I'd rather have Betts get more RBIs. Studies show your best hitter does best up second. I see no reason to doubt the numbers. Beni is pretty damn good at getting on base, too.

    He had a bad game. He pitched great last year, until he got hurt. I expect a very good to great season from him. He has nasty stuff but nibbles too much. I keep thinking that can be corrected, and he seemed a little better last year. I guess I'm just not getting all the doom & gloom after just 3 games. Bad teams win sometimes.The O's beat the Yanks, today. It's a long season, and we have a great team. I'd say, "Relax!" but I know it won't man a thing to many here.
