  1. All three should play just about everyday. Marco: 2B and some SS & 3B Travis: 1B and LF, maybe some DH Chavis: 1B, 2B and some DH.
  2. No way. I wouldn't offer him anything, because my number ($10M/2) would be viewed as insulting, and I want to reset, so even $10M/2 would not allow a reset.
  3. To me, unless there's an injury or obvious need to be rested, I might try to DH a player a game or two as sort of a half rest day. I'd maybe try to rest these guys these amounts of games: 1-2 Betts, Bogey, Devers, Beni 3-5 JD 1 every 4-5 games: Vaz
  4. There are more days off now than for a long time. I'm not buying it.
  5. It might just be better to take a year off from competing, get a decent draft pick and international pool monies for bonuses and then go all in for 2021 or 2022. Try to build up the farm, at least a little, before we start spending big, again.
  6. I have always been okay with a rest day here or there, especially if a guy looks sluggish, but I think we have rested guys, too much. It's not just the big 3-5 guys. I would not have rested Bogey on July 6th. We had just had 3 days off around the London series (Yes, I know about travel drag.) and were 2 days away from the 5 day all star break (Yes, I know Bogey had to go.). This is not a burning issue for me. The fact that I still think Cora is our best manager ever, shows how little this matters, to me. It's just something I think went a little too far. Now, that we're all but out of it, the rest is apparently being stopped.
  7. When I chose the words "Flat earthers" I did not mean to associate the context of people with their heads in the sand, although I do think a little denial is at play with some who think our farm will rise from the ashes without getting any top picks or high international spending pools. I thought, "What is the opposite of a cliff dweller?" I thought of saying, "Plateau dweller" or "Hill people," but flat earthers sounded better. It was not meant as an insult to anyone's intelligence.
  8. Keuchel had a QO attached to his name.
  9. You think it's better than 30:1?
  10. If Sale is out, the reset should be an automatic call. DD should be gone or stripped of the day-to-day operations in favor of a known rebuilder. We should only sign players that will... 1) Not put us over the luxury tax. 2) Fill a temporary role (1 year contract) that keeps us semi decent next year. 3) Be in the longer term plans at a low cost (probably not many of these types).
  11. What are the odds? 1,000:1?
  12. Another 5 runs by our starter. (Yes, I'm going to keep saying it.) Wow! Devers is el fuego! The sky is the limit for this kid! After game season OPS: .976 Devers .946 Bogey .946 JD .894 Betts .839 Holt .835 Moreland .830 Beni .818 Marco .808 Travis .797 Vaz .766 Chavis .711 JBJ .562 Leon
  13. Yes, and that we might want to know more about Shawaryn, in order to make tough decisions this winter. We know Porcello, and we know he won't be back.
  14. MLB.com writes... The production of Devers at such a young age has put him in rare company. The left-handed hitting masher is the first MLB player with 100-plus runs and RBIs in a season before 23 since future Hall of Famer Miguel Cabrera in 2005. The only other Red Sox player to accomplish the feat? A guy by the name of Ted Williams.
  15. Games starterd: 121 Betts 120 Bogey 117 Devers 108 Beni (BR, I don't think it counts today's game.) I remember more days off, but not just these three. I know others had some injury issues.
  16. I think Price would get way more than $18M/3, if he was a FA this winter.
  17. Exactly. DD and Henry knew the risks, and they knew an injury risk was greater with Sale than most, but I think they liked the lower years and dollars than what most expected, and that was the trade off.
  18. Thanks. We got home, tonight. Not sure when the service will be.
  19. The flip side of the gamble was that he gets more money and more years had he been healthy last year. He gets way more money next year had he pitched well this year. We gambled and most likely lost.
  20. There was 5 days off for the break and several before it. We were in urgent mode then. A day off for a couple guys, maybe, but we were giving more than I liked. Again, I'm not saying I know more than Cora, I'm just giving my opinion. Cora is my man.
  21. I used to think the same of Beeks as I do now about Shawaryn. Had w had a chance to play Beeks more maybe Ed have seen he was not as bad as we thought.
  22. Forgive my bluntness recently. Some of you may know my 19 year old dog died recently and my brother in law died unexpectedly 2 days ago, and we are going through a tough time with his family, right now.
  23. To me, one of the saddest parts of this season is how I'd have expected 120 wins back in April had someone said Bogey, Vaz & Devers would have a season like this!
