  1. The only two who come close were JD Drew & Price.
  2. I expected age progression growth. His defense got worse. He's hot right now, but he didn't help much when we were still in it. (I clearly stated "Bad" could be just not meeting expectations.)
  3. Another idea might be to try and replicate the AGon, CC & Beckett deal. Trade Betts with a sunken contract or two for scraps and start over. Betts, Price and Rusney for a couple decent prospects. The problem is, the Dodgers won't be fooled again. Would anyone else?
  4. Certainly pitching would be a big part of going all out in 2021 but maybe 2 good ones- not great. I'm not that worried about Sale's age. Price- yes. ERod is on board for 2021 and maybe Eovaldi will be healthy.
  5. Yes, ERod is a "nibbler," but he has some of the nastiest stuff on the staff. He's also improved on his IP'd, slightly. Trading ERod only makes sense, if we are looking for a 2-3 year rebuild, not the one year plan I'm thinking might be possible (reset in 2020). I love Workman, but he's a FA after 2021. He has trade value, too. If we plan to be highly competitive by 2021, he'll have 1 year in the next window. Barnes has seen his stock fall. I'd keep him, in hopes he improves and can help in 2021 or be traded next July. Hembree's stock is low, too. I keep thinking we'll see his upside, and maybe we started to this year, but who knows. I would not trade him for scars, unless it puts us under the tax line.
  6. We could trade Betts this winter, sign a few 1 year deals to keep us respectable and still reset the tax, then go all out in 2021, which may include signing Betts. If we trade him after game 1, there's no QO to worry about.
  7. He's my favorite player, but paying over $10M for great but fading D and sub .700 offense is not something we can afford going forward. We could probably get great D and .600 from Billy Hamilton for peanuts.
  8. Vaz & Workman have not been "bright?"
  9. His defense appears to have slipped a little. I'm okay with moving him from ugly to bad.
  10. Nobody wants to trade Chavis for a worse prospect. I think we keep Chavis, since he can play 1B or 2B, and we are open at both positions. My confidence has fallen on him, as his OPS has been below .700 since his first 14 games. That's not good enough for 1B, and although he's looked okay on defense, I'm not sure he's good enough to stay at 2B longterm.
  11. We can reset with just a couple minor non tenders or a trade of a big contract and paying just some of it. Filling all the voids with kids from the system or very cheap FAs would likely put us near 80 wins, which if we keep it to one year, would be okay with me. Hell, we may only get 80 wins this year!
  12. Yes, and one that can bring scouts and developers that know how to bring great young arms to the bigs. I'm not pissed at DD at all. He did what he was supposed to do, but it's time to pay the piper. Call it "the window" or "the cliff" or whatever you wish, but it sure snuck up on us faster than most of us expected. (Some denied it would ever happen.)
  13. Well, that was over $23M spent on a team already outspending everyone else- most by nearly double. I doubt we ever go over the max line again. I think we reset after 2020, but I'd prefer this winter. I doubt we go over the second line, except when we really think we are the faves. We still have a decent core to keep and build around. We have some high contracts, but hopes that they can all contribute, except Pedey's. We have no CC's, Pablitos or HRams. We have a few farm scraps that can fill roles while we rebuild, and maybe 1 or 2 stick around afterwards. DHern Marco Chavis Travis/Dalbec/Ockimey Chatham/Lin Duran Walden/Taylor
  14. He must have thought 2019 had a good chance, or he wouldn't have (allowed) signed Eovaldi & Pearce.
  15. The Good Bogaerts .932 Devers .928 Vazquez .809 Workman 1.87 Walden 3.30 JTaylor 3.34 (Marco .862 & Travis .771 in limited duty) The Bad (or not so Good/not reached expectations) JD Martinez .943 (but just 71 rbis) Betts .882 (Just 62 rbis) Beni .825 (just 60 rbis) Moreland .826 (hurt too much-again) B Holt .811 (hurt too much, again) Chavis .766 (sub .700 since his friat 14 games) Leon .576 (pitcher magic not enough) Sale 4.41 (inconsistent) Price 4.36 (low innings) ERod 4.17 (fading) The Ugly JBJ .696 (all in one 6 week hot streak) Nunez, Pearce, Pedey, Swihart (no numbers needed) Porcello 5.67 Barnes 4.70 Cashner,Wright, Johnson, Velazquez, Weber, Shawaryn Hembree, Brasier, Poyner, TKelley, Brewer, Lakins, Thornburg, ERamirez, JSmith
  16. DFA Porcello & Cashner.
  17. Yup. I was thinking they may go 2.1 or 2.2, but Walden pulled a Barnes on us.
  18. Yes, they greatly suck. DFA Porcello and Cashner tonight. Make room on the roster for some kids.
  19. I don't either, but I think resetting after this year makes the most sense, especially if we want to keep Betts.
  20. Now, the pen let's up one run in 3 IP and gets the blame for the loss.
  21. That's what I called it: the anti universe of 2018.
  22. How about these K rates? 17.6 D Hernandez 15.8 Barnes 14.2 Shawaryn 13.2 Sale 12.4 Workman 12.2 Taylor 10.8 Price & Hembree 9.3 Walden 9.0 ERod
  23. We can reset without trading Betts, but trading him makes more sense for a rebuild. We could then re-sign him for 2021 or some other quality FA(s). We could also try to trade JD with cash.
  24. I gave up on Travis long ago, but we have nothing to lose by giving him one more shot to show what he's got.
