  1. Seems the opposite, but that is why we can't always go by just our own feelings based on our observations. Numbers matter.
  2. Another game lost by the pen. Just kidding.
  3. Tough loss. We need to win more of these one run games
  4. After being one-hit, I expected a big offensive outburst. It's our MO this year. Maybe tonight we lose 2-1. BTW, we are lucky to be playing the Rays in a time when they are struggling. The Rays just lost 2 of 3 to the CWS and 5 out of their last 6. They are 7-9 in their last 16 games. They were 9-11 before that. 16-20 in their last 46 games before last night's loss.
  5. I've always liked UZR/150 better, and Bogey is consistently between #15-20 out of the top 30 SSs by innings. With this offense, I don't worry about him not being #5-10. Plus, there's a hell of a lot of very good to great defensive SSs these days, so #15-20 is not really bad.
  6. Top PA players & their OPS- BOS vs CLE: Red= .020 or more higher OPS BOS (PAs)/OPS CLE (PAs) .875 Betts(470)/ .929 Santana (425) .967 Bogey (438)/.699 Ramirez (410) .941 Devers (428)/ .853 Lindor (363) .875 JD Mar (409)/ .705 Bauers (347) .776 Beni (404)/ .679 Kipnis (331) .724 J B J (366)/ .801 Perez (273) .779 Chavis(331)/ .619 Martin (264) .821 Vazques(315)/ .838 Mercado (230) .859 Morelnd (174)/ .827 Naquin (212) .849 B Holt (138)/ .852 Luplow (188) .583 S Leon(126)/ .558 CGonzo (117) If this doesn't show it's "all about pitching," I don't know what does.
  7. Keuchel is a great comp. They will be almost the exact age at the point of free agency (BD's 5 days apart). They both won a CY Young at age 27 and have not really come close before of after, although Keuchel has come closer than Porcello. Keuchel had better numbers over his previous 5 seasons: Keuchel/ Porcello ERA+ 132/113 (DET) 157/87 86/142 141/98 109/103 WHIP 1.18/1.23 1.02/1.36 1.29/1.01 1.12/1.40 1.31/1.18 No QO will make the situation much different for Porcello. He'll probably get something like $40M/3, IMO.
  8. I don't see anyway we stay highly competitive for 5+ years, unless Henry goes over the max line several times, even considerably over. I guess it could happen, but I seriously doubt it. Within today's system, it is hard to rebuild your farm by finishing 81-81 3 years in a row, even if you stay under the first tax line.
  9. The Twinkies even turned a triple play!
  10. Exactly! I responded that he's also the cheapest starter in the rotation, is under team control for several years and we're heading for a nasty roster/budget crunch at some point.
  11. Nice to see all the Jacks, but Devers' dbl was the nicest hit of the game. ERod da man! Eovaldi even got his feet wet...in doo-doo, but hey, he's back!
  12. I saw the Sox opener there- the year of the closer-by-committee. I actually thought the stadium was okay.
  13. We know why, right? Jacko just said the Twins were their bitches!
  14. Who was the clown who wanted to trade ERod a while back?
  15. The Guardians are hot, but imagine if we were two up in the wild card race and had these numbers. Would we still have so many posters giving up? Top players by PAs this year PA Rank PA Player OPS 2. 405 Ramirez .694 4. 342 Bauers .707 5. 326 Kipnis .668 7. 264 Martin .619 11. 117 C Gonzalez .558 12. 111 Plawecki .622 Kluber & Carrasco on the IL.
  16. The team record with ERod since 2018: 35-9
  17. Past the deadline?
  18. Maybe Leon can help him with his approach. ERA in 2019 with... Leon 4.12 Vaz 7.96 Swi 13.50 Career: 4.13 w Leon 4.88 w Vaz 4.93 w Swi He may also just need some time off to regroup.
  19. They are praising him for the present team, farm and future outlook. Plus, he has some budget space to work with both this year and going forward. Nobody is praising him for past accomplishments, except maybe a few Yankee fans.
  20. We will likely have precious dollars to spend, and while we do have a strong core of players, assuming our rotation rebounds, we will have these holes to fill: 1B or 2B (Whichever Chavis is not playing.) 2B or 1B (If Chavis flops.) DH (If JD opts out) SP5 SP4 (If Eovaldi is not himself.) Closer Set-up 1 Set-up 2 Set up 4 (Assuming Workman is the 3) Set up 6 (Assuming Barnes is the 5) SP 6 All this needs to be filled with two dollars and fifty-nine cents!
  21. Price is close. Sale has exceeded his pay so far... by a long shot. Porcello earned the money Ben paid him. Eovaldi cost us pennies last year. This year is another story, but overall, he has about earned his 2018-2019 salary combined.
  22. Sad, but it might be our best hope. There's a better chance they mop up on our closest contenders than we go on a sustained tear.
  23. Next 14 games: @TBR ERod @TBR Sale @TBR Price NYY Porcello NYY Cashner NYY ERod NYY Sale TBR Price (Trade deadline before next game) TBR Porcello TBR Casner @NYY ERod @NYY Sale/ @NYY Johnson ? @NYY Price 6 of our 8 games before the trade deadline are with ERod, Sale & Price. It's now or never.
  24. Eovaldi & Workman and Barnes in any other given year.
