  1. I think Henry wants to reset at some point, but he may wait longer than I imagine. I can see him spending over the first line many years in a row, but resetting the tax just once has a lot of benefits- not just financial. Let me word it differently: would you be surorised if Henry mandates a reset in the next 2.5 years?
  2. Do you think there is a plan or high priority to reset the tax in the next 2.5 years?
  3. MLBTR suggests.... Red Sox: Mariners RHP Anthony Bass This one is tricky since the Red Sox do not have a deep farm system and probably are going to have to go for an arm that adds depth.
  4. If we let every FA go and don't sign anyone major, bring back Holt and sign some cheap CF'er, we can barely reset by trading JBJ. We may have to let Hembree and Leon go.
  5. CLE & TBR are currently losing. Let's hope we're within 1-2 games of CLE before we play them.
  6. None of our pitching prospects are sure bet solid RP'ers of the future. I agree on Moreland & Pearce not returning. We will go with Chavis, Dalbec, Marco and maybe a returning Holt as our right side IF. Porcello will not be back, and he won't take $9M/1. I am nearly certain we will reset the tax at some point in the next 2-3 years. When we do, we will not be a top contender. Call it whatever you want, but we will not be a top contender at some point in the near future- hopefully just for 1-2 years. I don't think JD opts out. He's basically a DH making more money than any DH on the open market can make. If we decide to reset this winter, we'll trade JBJ. If you read some of the posts here a week ago, you'd have thought this season was "the cliff."
  7. The Yanks are going to acquire a SP'er of merit, but I doubt that will be enough to make them a top rotation team.
  8. Indeed. The guy he replaced, Marco, was doing a good Moreland impression before being demoted.
  9. Plus, we are 13-8 in his 21 starts! Evidence that W-L's are not always good indicators of a pitcher's performance level.
  10. ...something most of knew last October.
  11. I think we'll see Moreland at 1B vs RHPs, Chavis at 1B vs LHPs and 2B vs RHPs with Holt at 2B vs LHPs.
  12. Price should be mentioned, too. As bad as our starters have done this year, as a whole, they look to be in a much better position than the Yanks rotation, right now.
  13. Throw out Kimbrel's first 3 games and he's at... since: 1.38 WHIP (.736 OPS against) 3.38 ERA Overall: 1.69 WHIP 6.75 ERA (8.01 FIP)
  14. When you only allow just 3.2 hits per 9 and 0.2 HRs per 9, the 6.0 BB/9 is something a good closer can deal with.
  15. With this rotation, the Yanks should go with a 4 man OF.
  16. We are going to stick with Porcello & Cashner. I think we trade for one solid RP'er without giving up a top near ML ready prospect. (Yes, it can be done. Look want we got Cashner for.)
  17. I tried to warn you last March.
  18. 8 down to the Yanks. 4 down to the Guardians for the 1st WC slot. 0.5 up on TBR & OAK on the 2nd slot. Sweep the Skanks and call it a nice weekend!
  19. He must have been red hot before the last 10 games to still be over .800 for July.
  20. Man o man, Devers is the man. Just got caught up live. ERod comes through again. Beni, JD, just about everyone coming through, again. Now, Eovaldi could help us all feel a lot better by getting out of this mess.
  21. I would think you are probably right. The more "into it" a fan is, like the ones that might post on these forums, is more likely to be into more stats and metrics, but I do think a lot of casual and traditional fans are interested and understanding of more stats and metrics than we might believe.
  22. Don't ask/force Sox fans to look up the history of Yankee championships by decades. I still think the cost on starters will drop as the deadline nears. Cashner was cheap. We may also be surprised at how many teams still "in it" may trade a SP'er (like CLE, SFG, PIT...).
  23. With Moreland and Pearce moving on after this year, and Chavis showing he is not horrific at 2B, we may hold onto Dalbec as a possible cheap solution to the 2020 and beyond 1B issue. We showed we can get Cashner, Eovaldi (last year) and Reed (2 years ago) without giving up our best and nearest ML ready prospects. I think DD will do the same this summer. Dalbec will not be traded.
