  1. He also saw all the lefties coming up, and you know how he values splits.
  2. DET up 6-1 on CLE, showing that hot and cold teams can switch on a dime.
  3. Yup. and Sept 13th was regular season not post season, too. I don't think any of us expected a long and great outing, but that was very short. The quick hook did seem surprising, especially when a couple hits were not hard hit.
  4. Looking at the Yankee offense vs past years, their 119 wRC+ is the highest since 2007, when it was the same. (It was 117 in 2009 and 2019.) Their HRs, OBP, SLG were all higher in 2019.
  5. The line-up is... L Duran LF R Story SS R Bregman 3B L Yoshida DH R Rafaela CF L Lowe 1B R Narvaez C L Abreu RF R Romy 2B
  6. Walking and chewing gum at the same time.
  7. During the regular season this year, NYY had a .510 OPS vs Bello in 73 PAs. (3 starts) Bello had a 1.89 ERA vs them. Also.... Certainly the HR was hit hard, but a couple other hits were not.
  8. Max, how many times have you predicted what would happen based on a recent trend by a team or player and been surprised, this year? Be prepared.
  9. Other possible solutions for our #2 SP'er in 2026: fWAR 2024-2025 9.8 Sale ($18M team option) 8.1 Cease FA 7.7 F Valdez FA 7.4 Sonny Gray Trade 6.3 Joe Ryan Trade (22nd best in MLB) 5.9 Flaherty ($20M player option for '26) 5.0 P Lopez Trade 4.9 Castillo Trade 4.8 M King FA 4.7 M Keller Trade (46th ranked) 4.1 Ober Trade 4.0 Imanaga ($15M player option or $57M/3 club option) 3.9 Z Gallen FA (big drop in '25) 3.8 M Kelly FA (age=short term deal) (Gio 2.0 in 1 season but now has arm issues) Any other ideas? Alcantara?
  10. LOL. I do wonder if Keller would be anything more than a decent 3-4 slot SP'er. His ERA+ has been 102 over the last 3 years, combined. (4.22 ERA/3.96 FIP) Joe Ryan might be too expensive. Luis Castillo or pablo Lopez might not take as much to acquire due to their high contract cost, but unless we give up Hicks, why wouldn't we just sign a short term contract, like we always do? (Perez I, Perez II, Richards, Kluber, Wacha/Hill, Paxton, Buehler & Sandoval)
  11. A good throw to 1B, he's out, but assume he's safe at 1B, with no dropped throw, is Eaton out at home on a throw from 1B to end the inning?
  12. Ummm.... Eaton started in RF game 1 & 2, so yes. . Ref started at DH game 1 and 2. Before he platooned in RF w Abreu. Besides, Yoshida was the back-up DH, until Devers was traded and for some time after that, too. (Yes, he hit like C plan batter until the last week or two of the season.)
  13. Maybe not "expecting," but I thought he could go 5 IP with 2 ERs, maybe 3.
  14. Top Post Season OPS in 2025: 1.700 Mookie 1.500 Teoscar 1.400 Ohtani 1.286 Volpe (shut this guy down, tonight!) 1.267 Rojas (4th Dodger!) 1.222 Storytime! 1.167 Rortvedt (5th Dodger!) 1.143 Suzuki 1.142 Baez 1.133 C Kelly 1.127 Bregman 1.125 Kike 1.100 Eaton (our plan B guy.) Sox have 3 in the top 13.
  15. If Garcia plays, Duran to DH and Garcia in LF. If we trade Duran instead: LF: Anthony v R/ Garcia v L CF: Rafaela RF: Abreu v R/ Anthony v L
  16. I think his poor D made Bloom move towards better OF D & JBJ's ghost.
  17. How about old friends Betts & Kike leading the Dodgers to the next round?
  18. Renfroe was big with the HRs and RBI, and threw out a lot of runners, but his RF D was not good, and he was why we made the awful trade for JBJ.
  19. I'm still optimistic about tonight, and I'd feel a lot better about this season, but even if we lose, I think we took a major step forward. That doesn't mean we take the foot off the peddle. We need to not only make up for losing Devers, but also Gio and maybe Bregman. That's no easy task. IMO, we need 3 major additions: SP (solid #2 type) Big bat (3B or 1B) Good bat who can play 1B, 3B or 2B. If we sign someone like Schwarber, it would be for 1B not DH. (Alonso and maybe Suarez would be other solid choices.) 2B could be a trade for Marte or a Torres signing. Trading for Keller might be the best we can do for the rotation, considering the budget.
