    Casas went 2-4 for Salem, and Ward went 6 IP letting up 3 hits and 1 ER. Esplin 2-3 with 2 HRs and a BB. Wow on Padron-Artilles! He ended up with 14 Ks in 6, and the team had 17 total with just 1 BB and 3 hits allowed.

    Good to see Eovaldi look sharp. A couple more good starts by him and maybe we'll have a better feeling about 2020.

    I take no pride in giving up hope long ago. This season sucked- big time. Let's see the kids play. Every choice, now, should be about setting ourselves up for the future and gaining information about marginal players.

    I know you guys wouldn't want someone like Price, when you are looking to cut salary. I do think your team might have wanted JBJ next year, if you were going to compete. Too bad that's out of the question.

    The best part was that all the years of the contract were within prime. It's not very often you get 4 years of a team control contract all in prime.

    Defensively, yes, but Dalbec/Ockimey/Travis at 1B and Chavis at 2B would likely hit much better. Plus, you dissin' marco?

    But, he inherited a farm and had spending room. He'll have neither next year.

    Not much difference to me there. Plus, Porky only has 6 more IP than Sale and 24 more runs allowed. Velazquez would have to have an ERA of 36.00 to even them up. Price has 46 less innings than Porky and 45 less runs, so who even filled in for Porky would just need an ERA under 9.00 to even it up there.

    Maybe Henry okays spending larger for 2 more years, mega taxes and all. We reset after 2021 when... Pedey's contract ends ($13.75). ERod, Barnes and Hembree become FAs. Price & Eovaldi are on their last year of team control. JD may have already opted out or has just 2022 to go. I think it's best to reset this winter, but I can see why extending the window could work.

    Yes, why didn't they keep DD around for the rebuild? It's obvious: it's not what he does.

    DHern did start 23 games with 101 IP with Portland in 2018, so I don't think making him a starter would take much work. I'm not sure what role is best for him. I don't like relying on Travis for anything, but maybe as a back-up option, however, if we are going to reset, then I'm fine with just about anyone. I see Marco and Chavis sharing 2B duty with Chavis playing some 1B. I expect Dalbec, Travis and Ockimey to fight for the 1B platoon. I think Ockimey has more upside than Travis, and he's better than the others vs RHPs on the farm.)
