  1. Yes, I got it backwards. True, they still need a 2021 catcher.
  2. Rays just traded their best catching prospect and have no catchers on their 40 man roster. I'm thinking Vaz may be headed their way. Vaz for Kiermaier & Chrinos or Yarbrough plus maybe a smaller piece. (I'd like to see Shane Baz as that third piece, as we could add Chatham or Chavis, if needed.) The Trade Values site accepts Vaz for Kiermaier, Chirnos & Yarbrough, but I seriously doubt we'd get 2 SP'ers back.
  3. Done deal. DD just hired.
  4. Shane Baz would be a nice get, but he's never pitched above A ball, so I would not count on him as being a candidate for the 5 slot in the rotation. He's 21 years old.
  5. Sounds better than most!

  9. If they have the better park, why did they wait to now, to swap?
  10. There are no "big expenditures" but enough moderate ones to put us significantly over the lux tax line not just for 2021, but likely for 2022 as well. I do think Henry would be fine with going over in 2021, but maybe not over the $20M second line, unless we look like we could win a ring.
  11. 2 years at $8M? $9M? $6M? I might go as high as $5.5M x 2 with incentives.
  12. The Rule 5 draft starts in minutes. I'm on the edge of my seat! (NOT!)
  13. Any reason why?
  14. LOL. I'd love him back- just not at the money and years talked about, here. JBJ> Pillar or Marisnik and likely both combined, and if we have no spending limit, I'd be fine with JBJ being signed, but we only have so much to spend, and pitching has 3-4 slots in bigger need than JBJ vs Pillar.
  15. Very reasonable and a decent team. I wonder what the budget line might be on this team.
  16. Maybe he read all the bashing posts on this site.
  17. He did, "Someone currently on the roster."
  18. If 495 didn't pass by Lowell, I may never have visited it.
  19. Mexico's death/cases rate is over 9- about the worst in the world, but we have slightly more deaths per million than Mexico and are pulling away. We may be spenders this winter, but not by that much.
  20. If Pillar costs half of what JBJ gets and maybe 1-2 years not 2-4 years, I'll go with Pillar. Pillar .784 career vs LHPs m(.678 v R) or Marisnik .711 v LHP (.638 v R) plus Brad Miller .772 vs RHPs (.619) or Dee Gordon .694 v RHP (.640 v R) Might be a nice and cheaper platoon than just getting JBJ alone (.752 vs RHP/ .685 vs LHP)
  21. I'd rather have Quintana or a second tier SP'ers or 2 decent pen arms than an expensive 2Bman. It's not just expensive FA pitchers that are available.
  22. I'd give Chavis & Chatham for Leclerc, Odor and Hernandez & $7M cash. The site accepted it. I'd actually do it without the cash or Hernandez (maybe sub Trevino) or maybe just $3M ($1M a year).
  23. While Odor is owed $27M/2, assuming 3rd year option is declined and LeClerc is owed $15.5M/3, assuming his 4th year is declined, which it may not be, and the total is about $33M for the next 2-3 years, total, the luxury tax hit is only $11.9M combined. That really works great for the Sox. We get our closer and a possible starting 2Bman. Even if we end up cutting Odor, eventually, $12M a year for a decent closer is okay. I checked out the Trade values site and a Chatham & Groome for LeClerc & odor showed a net of 16 in the Ranger's favor. That could be made up for in a number of ways: 1. Some cash going to BOS, which would lessen the tax. 2. Get a catcher in return and maybe trade Vaz: Huff C/1B value 16.7 (minors) Hernandez C/1B value 11.0 (minors) Trevino C value 2.9 (MLB pre-arb) 3. Pitching prospect: Crouse 7.1 Rodriguez 6.9 4. ML pitcher: Palumbo 6.3 (LHP can start) Martin 5.6 (LHP) Cody 0.9 (RHP) The site accepted: Chatham & Groome for Leclerc, Odor, Hernandez & Martin and Chavis, Chatham & Groome for Leclerc, Odor + $5M, Hernandez & Crouse and Chavis & Groome for Leclerc, Odor +$7M & Hernandez
  24. Steve Adams... The Red Sox aren’t ruling out a reunion with Jackie Bradley Jr., as general manager Brian O’Halloran told reporters yesterday that the longtime Sox center fielder is “definitely on our radar” (link via MassLive.com’s Christopher Smith). Bradley has been linked to Toronto (who hasn’t?) and Houston thus far in the offseason, and the center fielder himself told former teammate Will Middlebrooks in a recent podcast appearance that he’s heard from multiple clubs in free agency. -MLBTR
