  1. Just because he extended with the Dodgers, during a pandemic, does not mean he was open to extension discussions way back in 2016.
  2. I didn't think Mookie wanted to even discuss an extension, ever.
  3. Sometimes less contract cost raises the value of a player at the deadline, too.
  4. He didn't really pitch much in 2020, but with the shortened season and late start, not many did. I do remember suggesting we trade players with one year left, once it became clear we were tanking in 2020. The part about "getting more" is speculative, but that's what this board is all about. I'm glad we have Pivetta, and I'm pretty high on Seabold, too.
  5. He's been a Pivetta basher since day one (along with Bloom).
  6. I was really happy we got Pivetta. Getting Seabold with him could make that deal a bonanza. I heard Workman was recently DFA'd, so Bloom did well not trying to bring him back.
  7. We have a lot of players under performing their career or recent norms. It's not a sure thing they return to norm, but there is hope. Other than a few pitchers, nobody is wildly out performing their career or recent norms. We also have some players waiting in the wings that may add to the mix: Santana Chavis Duran Arauz Munoz Downs Ockimey SaleHouck Brasier Bazardo Seabold and maybe others. Seabold
  8. What seems special about this team is that when one area struggles, another pulls up the slack and keeps us in the games. Our offense is in a 3 game funk. It could be the pitchers we face all had good nights. Our D hurt us last night. The HR ball, too.
  9. He agreed to extend it into May, because he's not quite ready.
  10. Some of our outs have been hard hit, so maybe we'll piece some hits together, soon.
  11. Perez now has an ERA below 5.00 (4.84). The rotation is really shaping up nicely.
  12. It's not like I'm happy we are struggling offensively.
  13. Are we supposed to go 80-0 vs the worst teams? We already showed we can get swept by the O's, and it means very little. That was 3 games. This is one, and it's not over.
  14. I think the trade was pre- 90's.
  15. YES!!!! Houck raised a lot of hopes after his nice career start, last season. Whitlock is on his way to topping that. Two years in a row is blowing my mind!
  16. Sox in the top OPS in MLB: 6. JD 1.095 19. Bogey .940 21. Devers .936 33. Verdugo .884 RBI 3. JD 21 T6. Devers 19
  17. I'm not sure we'll ever be done talking about the departure of Betts, but I'm thinking not much new can be said about it.
  18. they only made one offer. What do you mean by "always?"
  19. Yes, but they must have known, not making him a second decent offer was going to make them look bad, of he extended with the Dodgers. Maybe they took him at his word and figured they could make him an offer as a FA- like they ended up doing with Lester, but as we saw with that case, even a decent offer as a FA did not change the unpleasantness.
  20. I agree, but by not giving a second- more reasonable offer- it forced the drag out public unpleasantness.
