Adding Scherzer makes them the AL Fave. No offensive stud on the market can do that. (Plus, they already added Cruz. How's that working out?)

I'm a freak. I would not go over the tax line for Scherzer. If Bloom & Co are going to go over, he'd be a great get, despite being a rental. I do NOT think now is the time to go big. I like Downs. I wouldn't trade anyone as high as him or even some lower than him for a rental. That's just me. I'm more about the long term and maybe I'm too obsessed with budget lines.

I agree. This might be their best chance. I'm looking at it as a Sox fan, and how dealing prospects will give us a better chance going forward. I also think we can still beat a Rays team with Scherzer, this year, too.

I agree. There is room for everyone to play enough. I want everyone to play, except maybe Dalbec, but the only drawback is Kike not playing in the OF enough. The guys is playing extremely well in CF. On a team with very questionable defense, having great CF and RF defense is a big help, especially in Fenway.

I'm not sure anything has been officially announced, but I think it might be a few more weeks, at least. Same with Marwin.

I'll be happy to see the Rays trade top prospects for an all-in one year window. It's a terrible strategy and one they have always avoided, for good reason. I also hope the Yanks are buyers not sellers- for the same reason.

Just say "NO!" to Rizzo. He's not worth what it will cost. I don't think Bloom will give what the Cubs demand. (I've been wrong many times before.)

Rizzo will cost too much and is a rental. Bloom will not trade for him. Santana or Cron.

It’s no secret I’ve wanted Kike in CF since we signed him. Almost everyone thought 2B was better. That being said, I want Duran playing, so Kike at 2B is fine for the betterment of the team. Playing 1B seems extreme but I want Arroyo playing, too.

If we do not sign Fabian, we will get a comp pick next year. It would suck, but it does not mean Bloom messed up or that all is lost.

Every pitcher has a what if or two that would greatly improve his numbers. Richards is no different. To me, he has value to some team more than to ours. He's been healthy for 19 starts. That alone was the biggest question going into this season. As bad as he has looked over his last 8 starts, he still shows more promise than some starters on contending teams. I highly doubt he gets traded, but I'd look into it. Not to get anything back bust some salary relief. With the money saved, we can get a better upgrade than with just the $3-4M we can spend, now.

That's a nice 8. Most teams can't match that. We have to hope we can improve 1B, either by hoping Dalbec-Cordero/Marwin/Kike/Arroyo/Plawecki do better going forward or we add a 1Bman.

STOP! Please! I posted several numbers, one being fWAR. Most showed him to be mediocre, some a bit above average and fWAR showing top 20%. From that I determined he was a good pitcher from 2009-2020. You and 700 bring up nobody wanting him in 2021, so freakin' what? I never said Porcello was in a class with HOF'er. I said he was good or very good not mediocre. Stop pretending I said things I did not. I'm fine with people calling him mediocre. Stop the Porcello talk. What's the use?

The PTBNL is not important. It's my opinion Richards may be viewed as a better pitcher than a current starting pitcher on a contending team that does not want to shed prospects to upgrade. We might even try a deal like Ottavino. We could give up a prospect we do not plan on protecting, this winter- something like Potts, Richards and cash for nothing. The money saved allows us to upgrade our rotation and maybe 1B while keeping the budget in line. I'm not saying it will be easy to find a taker for Richards or that Bloom is even thinking about the idea. We have seen TB be buyers and sellers at the same time, so I do not think the idea is all that crazy.

Bloom acquired and traded several players with TB. Also, I'm not saying they will trade Richards or Perez, but I hope they trade Richards, move Perez to the pen, and acquire a decent SP'er and maybe a 1Bman, if the budget allows them to.
