  1. It's not about his 2021 numbers. He's likely more ML ready, right now, than Santana or Duran. If Sox brass thinks Duran is ML ready, then I'm all for him instead of Wilson. Wilson played more, this spring, than Santana and more in the minors, so far (6 games to 3).
  2. Not surprising. We should maybe call up Wilson and demote Cordero or DFA Brice. Maybe when Arroyo or Kike return- the other from Brice or Cordero goes.
  3. Another point: Cordero is not in the team's top 9 in PAs. Had Arroyo not gotten hurt, he'd likely not be in the top 10. Team's worst hitters with 70+ PAs: BOS (5 under .700, 2 under .600, 1 under .500) .412 Cordero 84 .558 Dalbec 108 .612 Marwin 126 (5th in PAS!) .633 Renfroe 109 .677 Vaz .710 Arroyo NYY (6-2-0) .522 Gardner 75 .587 Frazier 104 .625 Torres 141 (2nd in PAs!) .632 Odor 70 .640 Hicks 123 (5th in PAs) .689 Sanchez 90 TOR (4-3-1) .408 Jansen 77 .510 Gurriel 121 (5th) .532 Tellez 75 .634 Biggio 120 (6th) TBR (7-4-1) .462 Tsutsugo 87 .561 Adames 119 (6th) .581 Brosseau 81 .589 Kiermaier 77 .644 Margot 121 (5th) .662 Diaz 141 (3rd) .672 B Lowe 136 (4th) .723 Arozarena 146 (2nd) .726 Meadows 146 (1st)
  4. Kike was doing about as expected. Dalbec is being given more leniency because he is doing better than Cordero this year, he did better least year, and Chavis might be needed more at 2B than 1B (Marwin to LF.) I'm convinced Cordero would be in AAA, right now, if Santana was ready.
  5. It's May 12th, and the best records in MLB are by these teams: STL SFG CHW BOS OAK CLE NYM SDP Nobody else is more than 3 games over .500.
  6. No, but I'm not sure I want Dalbec facing RHPs, right now. I'm far from giving up on Bobby Dee, but we need to shake things up, soon.
  7. My bad. For some reason, I was thinking Ockimey hit the short end of a platoon.
  8. His previous history was a larger sample size than this year, so one could argue we still don't really know who Franchy is or can be. He and we need to figure it out in AAA not Boston. If Santana was ready, Cordero would be demoted.
  9. Runs scored per game: 0-1 5 times 2-3 11 times 3-4 9 times 5-6 8 times 7-8 3 times 9+ 7 times 0-2 10 times 3-5 11 times 6-8 9 times 9+ 7 times 0-3 16 times 4-7 14 times 8+ 7 times We are 3-13 in games where we score 0-3 runs. 3-0 in 4 run games 6-2 in 5-6 run games 10-0 in 7+ games Runs Allowed 10-0 in games where we allowed 0-2 runs. 3-3 on 3 run games (should not be like this) 3-4 in 4 run games (same) 3-4 in 5-6 games 3-4 in 7+ games (weird) Comeback wins: 15 Blown leads (may not mean a loss) ONLY 5! (Largest blown lead? 2 runs)
  10. Ockimey is wrong-handed to platoon with Dalbec.
  11. They sure can! And, the Yanks haven't really started hitting all that much better.
  12. Our rotation has been upside down, the last 2 weeks: 2.20 Perez 2.81 Pivetta 3.75 Richards 4.41 Eovaldi 4.50 ERod Last 28 days 3.14 Richards 3.16 Pivetta 3.54 ERod 3.80 Perez 5.23 Eovaldi
  13. Better thaan Cordero, yes, as many others would have been, too. Renfroe has been as solid as Pillar. BTW, here are the OPS of some OF names mentioned, this past winter: .317 Billy Hamilton .407 Victor Reyes (.412 Cordero) .429 Adam Hasely .434 Dustin Fowler .522 Brett Gardner .536 Dexter Fowler .545 Jon Jay .558 JBJ .585 Amed Rosario & Hunter Dozier .589 K Kiermaier .590 Juan Lagares .610 Joc Pederson .610 Marcell Ozuna .631 Gregory Polanco (.633 Renfroe) .642 J Profar .645 E Rosario .669 Pillar
  14. Well, Pillar, Marisnick and others didn't have long term production success, either. Santana was supposed to be ready. He got a new injury. You keep ignoring this. Look, I'm on your side on this. Bloom should have signed an OF'er capable of playing FT OF, but none of the cheapest options had better track records than Renfroe- Cordero- yes. By stating Blooms reasoning, I'm not saying I agree with it, but he obviously thought Kike, Marwin & Santana were enough depth to carry us to Duran. 3 injuries put the kabosh on that. If just one injury did not take place, Cordero would be on the bench of at AAA, right now. That is kind of hard to predict.
  15. Or, some Max Mojo!
  16. Starters: Verdugo, Renfroe, Cordero Bench: Kike, Marwin AAA depth: Santana Again, I'm not saying this was fine or even good enough, but our 2 ML OF depth bench guys got hurt, and Marwin is needed at 2B. We should have signed Marisnick or some other near min wage OF'er- no doubt. We could have also given Chavis some reps in LF, this spring. We knew Duran was not ready, and Santana had a foot infection. It was a mistake.
  17. YES! I think with him, it's more about his defense, but at this point, anything is better than Cordero. My guess is we start with Santana and/or Wilson. I'd add both and DFA Brice & demote Cordero. When Arroyo and Kike come back, some choices need to be made.
  18. The money saved in the trade went towards signing Marwin +0.4 bWAR. and/or Sawamura +0.3 bWAR. How much value are Winckowski and 3 PTBNLs?
  19. Speaking of Santana, Wilson & Duran. Both Wilson & Duran homered, yesterday. Santana 1.164 in 3 games (1 HR in 10 ABs) Wilson 1.067 in 6 games (2 HRs in 28 ABs)) Duran .962 in 7 games (3 HRs in 28 ABs)
  20. He just needs to be in AAA working out his issues. In the long run, he may end up earning another chance, but as of now, he has no business being on our 26 man roster. If Santana isn't ready, call up Wilson or even Rosario as a defensive replacement- or better yet- both.. Scrap the 14th pitcher idea, at least until Kike or Arroyo return.
  21. Again, I'm not defending Blooms offseason OF neglect. I did like Kike as a CF'er, and many argued against that idea. He may not be great, but if he was healthy, Cordero is on the bench, right now. Same with Marwin. Same with Santana. It's hard for me to get to worked up over Bloom neglecting to fill a fourth string slot, but I do agree it was a mistake.
  22. It was never about his offense. It was about our weak OF defense and just having a late inning defensive replacement would have been nice. His offense has just been gracy. His OPS+ of 93 since that trash can year is not horrific, when you factor in his plus defense and contract cost. His OPS+ is 99 from 2019-2021. No trash cans.
  23. He would have been ready by now, but he got an infection in his foot. That was unforeseen. I'm not disagreeing with your position on the lack of ML ready OF depth. It's such an inexpensive position to fill. Marisnick signed for less than $200K over the minimum wage.
  24. I don't disagree. All winter I was screaming for a simple Marisnick signing. He's a good defender in CF and is hitting .967 since the start of 2020 and .761 from 2019-2021.
