  1. To me, our best number 2's have been... (Ace in parenthesis) 72 Marty Pattin (Siebert) 73-74 Bill Lee (Tiant) 75 Lee & Rick Wise (Tiant) 76-77 Wise & Fergie Jenkins (Tiant) 78 Tiant & Mike Torrez (Eckersley) 79 Torrez & Stanley (Eck) 80-82 Torrez & John Tudor (Eck) 83 Ojeda-Hurst-Tudor (Eck) 84-85 Hurst-Boyd-Ojeda (Clemens) 86 Hurst-Boyd (Clemens) 87-88 Hurst (Clemens) 89-90 Boddicker (Clemens) 91 Greg Harris (Clemens) 92 Viola (Clemens) 93 Viola-Darwin (Clemens) 94-96 Sele (Clemens) 97 Wakefield-Sele (Gordon) 98 Wake & Saberhagen (Pedro) 99 Saberhagen (Pedro) 00 ----- (Pedro) 01 Nomo (Pedro) 02 Lowe-Burkett-Wake (Pedro) 03 Lowe (Pedro) 04 Schilling (Pedro) 05 Wake (Wells) 06 Schilling-Lester (Beckett) 07 Schilling-DiceK (Beckett) 08 Beckett-Dice-K (Lester) 09 Beckett (Lester) 10 Buchholz (Lester) 11 Beckett (Lester) 12 ------- (------) 13 Lackey-Buch (Lester) 14 Lackey (Lester) 15 Buch (ERod) 16 Price-Wright (Porcello) 17 Pom-ERod (Sale) 18 Price-Porcello-Erod (Sale) 19 Porcello (ERod) 20 Eovaldi (-----) 21 Perez-Richards-ERod (Pivetta) PENDING
  2. I like seeing Dalbec get a day off.
  3. Well, he did drop off pretty quickly and missed a lot of games after we traded him. Then, the whole PED thingy.
  4. Maybe it's Vaz that needs to learn rhythm. He does not do well with many pitchers compared to his back-up.
  5. Those two were tops. I always wondered how Manny's numbers would have been had Papi been behind him.
  6. True nuff, and it's not surprising the only times we won or came real close, was when we had a great pitcher or two: Lonborg Tiant (Lee & Wise) Clemens (Hurst & Boyd) Pedro (Schilling) Beckett (Schilling & Dice-K) Lester (Lackey & Buch) Sale (Price, Porcello & ERod) I left out some great RP'ers.
  7. TB should move, too. I always felt Miami and Tampa should share a team. Call it the Florida Marlins and play about half their home games in each city.
  8. Can a guy stand 1 inch to the left of 2B and run towards 1B after the pitch is thrown?
  9. He needs something. I think he'll improve as the season warms up. (Maybe that's just wishful thinking.)
  10. His 2016 and 2018 seasons were better. This guy can pitch. He has one of the best K rates in MLB over the last 3-5 years.
  11. Agreed. I loved watching Manny hit. His approach was second to none.
  12. i doubt it. We'd have to have spent it very wisely. "No Manny, No Rings" was one of the longest running threads on "that other site" many years back- started by me.
  13. He's always walked too many, but this year is absurd. I think he'll work it out. He's our best bet at being a solid #2. DHern still walks too many hitters. Id like to see Sawamura gte more high leverage situations. I might also rise Valdez until he proves he's not worthy.
  14. I think soxprospects.com tries to list the pen in pecking order: they have: Barnes Ottavino DHern Andriese Sawamura Whitlock Valdez Taylor Brice.
  15. He's not. He's the "long man," so he can't really be a number 2 or 3. They apparently are stretching him out to be a starter, but I've yet to see him increase his pitches once in a game. Who do you think should be our #2? (I think Ottavino is the obvious choice, despite his high BB rate out of the gate and career.)
  16. Ole Miss right-hander Gunnar Hoglund, one of the top prospect in this summer’s draft class, will require Tommy John surgery after exiting last night’s start during the first inning, ESPN’s Kiley McDaniel reports (Twitter link). He’ll be sidelined for the next 12 to 18 months while he recovers.
  17. So, he can play? Can we trade Arroyo or Kike for a good pitcher? Do we want to do that? Maybe we trade Santana rather than call him up. Maybe we trade Chavis and Arauz for a pitcher at the deadline.
  18. Santana has an opt out date coming up soon. He'll get the first look for that reason, alone.
  19. I really like Munoz. I'd like to see him get a shot, but if it means 5 guys have to get hurt, I'll put my wishes aside.
  20. We could have won with Eovaldi, Pearce and 23 replacement players. LOL
  21. Yes, so would it take 4-5 strategic injuries for Munoz to get a chance?
  22. With Arroyo and Kike down at the same time, and Santana between Munoz and the majors, I wonder if Munoz will ever see another chance with the Sox. If he can't get the call up now, when can he?
