  1. The worst part is all the uncalled errors. The non plays. There have been many "earned runs" that would not have been with a plus fielding team. Our staff is fragile enough without having their teammates hand the team extra outs. So, where can we find a top lead off hitter with gold glove-type defense, who won't put us over the tax line and won't cost us a top prospect. Nobody? Okay.
  2. Don't forget Tyreque Reed.
  3. Just DFA Santana. That's the start.
  4. I'm still optimistic about 2021, but having a better RP'er in the pen, one that can go 4-6 innings would make me more optimistic.
  5. I'm beginning to think MLB.com is just messing with our minds. Their last Mock Draft from 4 days ago, has several top players available to us at the 4 slot (like the whole top 4 from a few weeks ago!) 1. Marcelo Mayer 2. Kahlil Watson 3. Jackson Jobe 4. Jack Leiter 5. Jordan Lawlar 6. Henry Davis 7. Kumar Rocker 8. Brady House
  6. It's not Santana vs Duran.
  7. We just lost a series to a slumping team. We need to do better vs a slumping Rays. The extra day of rest did not seem to help Eovaldi, today. I doubt an extra 2 days will help ERod vs Rich Hill on Tuesday. We could skip ERod and not have to pitch anyone on less rest, but we won't. It looks like... ERod +2 (days rest) TBR Richards +2 TBR Pivetta +1 TBR Perez +1 NYY Eovaldi +1 NYY ERod +1 NYY If we pushed ERod back... Richards +1 TBR Pivetta TBR Perez TBR ERod +5 NYY Eovaldi +1 NYY Richards NYY
  8. New best team in the AL. It's changing daily. 43-28 HOU (.606) 44-29 OAK (.603) 43-29 BOS 43-29 CWS 43-30 TBR (All 5 teams within a game of each other!) 39-30 CLE 38-33 NYY 38-36 SEA 36-35 LAA 35-35 TOR
  9. He seems to have the smarts and grit, too.
  10. I feel like he's ad a long enough chance, but at that money, maybe we can give him mop up duty and see if he can work his way back to a more meaningful role.
  11. Next May or June might be just the right time. He may get a September look-see, as with Duran.
  12. I'm not a knee-jerk fan, but the time is now. DFA Santana: call up Chavis Demote Rios: call up Gonsalves or Ort (taking Santana's 40 man roster slot) Think about DFA'ing Andriese or Workman: call up Houck, if ready or Phillips Valdez.
  13. Why is he still in there, now? This game is not over.
  14. ...or to allow Cora to just yank a starter who gives up 3 in the first or second. (There have been plenty of those, recently.)
  15. I wouldn't expect VTek to say anything bad about any of our young starters, but the accolades are so detailed, you have to believe he means all of this. If we can get Sale back to near normal by 2022, and Whitlock is all he promises to be, maybe we don't need to spend large and long on a top starter, this winter. (It still might be a good idea.) Funny how Whiltock just jumped right over Houck, Seabold, Ward, Groome and others, including and eventually a vet or two.
  16. We had Thursday off and have tomorrow off. Why is Rios pitching (again)!
  17. The A's have the best record in the AL, despite their numbers not matching their record. Their starting line up, today, had these BA's: .253 .222 .306 .254 .238 .240 .215 .225 .200 (They are down to the Yanks 2-1 in the 7th.)
  18. Hard for a manager to decide: should I pull him and burn up the pen, or will he turn it around? We did have Thursday off and have tomorrow off, too. Maybe I just answered my own question.
  19. Of course the Molting Rays are a worthy contender, but I'd still put my money on the Yanks to finish ahead of them.
  20. There are lots of good "top starters." Most are old or very old, but that would play into our no long term deal guidelines.
  21. Maybe someday. Maybe 2022, if Casas explodes his way to the bigs.
  22. Believe it or not, that's him admitting he was wrong.
  23. Sox OPS in the last 10 days: 1.258 Dalbec- Mr. Comeback 1.112 Bogey- Mr. Consistency .977 Devers- Mr. Fun .916 Arroyo- Mr. Full Time Second Baseman .820 Vaz- Mr. Over-worked .796 JD- Mr. Coming back to life .775 Renfroe- Mr. Steady since April .769 Verdugo- Mr. Clutch .587 Kike- Mr. Need you to do something .513 Marwin- Mr. Do-it-all but hit .400 Plawecki- Mr. back-up .368 Santana- Mr. DFA
