  1. I doubt that. Maybe it was a way to test how he handles pressure. I doubt anyone really knows for sure how to project how a player reacts to high pressure situations.
  2. That is very likely the reason.
  3. The Cordero-Dalbec comp is an interesting one. I think we'll see Cordero again, maybe very soon (DFA Santana?). Dalbec has been hot for 2+ weeks, and is our hottest hitter, right now.
  4. I'm pretty sure Bloom & Co. rate Duran as pretty close to being "ML ready." There is a slim chance they don't. It's not just about age. Had Duran always played CF, and had the same batting approach for years, he might already have been called up. We don't know all the reasons. Maybe, it's his mental make-up, and they think he's too "fragile" to risk the pressure of failing at the ML level out of the gate. Maybe they see something good about Santana and think he deserves a little more time. I'm sure glad they did not give up on Renfroe after April and Dalbec after April & May.
  5. The one thing to think about is that some of our pitching prospects are not "Bloom guys," and maybe he does not think some of them will ever amount to much. He may "value" them less than other GMs, which is often the basis of a trade- next to filling needs.
  6. I'm fine with anyone wanting Duran called up. I want him called up, too! AS SOON AS HE'S READY! Whenever you make your opinion known on Duran, you seem to imply Bloom is making a big mistake. Like you know better. I know you trust and like Bloom, and maybe it's just the way you word your opinions that seem to get under my skin, sometimes. I'm dying to see Duran get a shot, but maybe- just maybe, he's not not quite ML ready, and maybe, they think blasting him into a big pressure situation is not good for him. Who knows all the reasons, they are holding off. We have mentioned several possible reasons that all have merit, but for all we know, the reasons Bloom & Co. have may be different from what we have been posting.
  7. Much less of a pressure situation for Houck.
  8. Yes, each player is "different," but you seem to know Duran is ready. Tell us why you feel Duran deserves a "leap of faith," and why you know more than Bloom & Co.? He is new to the OF and changed his approach not long ago. He did not play, last year. He has had long stretches of struggling at the plate, and even slumped somewhat not long ago- this year. Just because Santana sucks does not make Duran any more "ready." The last reason to call some one up is our of desperation.
  9. I felt they rushed Bogey by only giving him 10 games at 3B before calling him up and throwing him at a new position in the middle of a playoff race, but he handled it well. I guess he was "ready." Many felt we called JBJ up too quickly (not me), bt after his poor start, I wondered. Pedey started off very slowly, and many felt they rushed him, then BAM- ROY! Many said Devers was a "panic" move.
  10. Nick, this kid is not in the same league as Duran and Casas. Although he's just 20, he has over 200 games under his belt at a position he has played his whole life. The Sox do have a history of fast-tracking some players. They don't hold everyone back. Duran switched positions, recently and changed his batting approach, recently. Why don't you trust Bloom & Co. to know when he is "ready?"
  11. Up coming schedule @TBR 3 NYY 3 KCR 4 @OAK 3 @LAA 3 off PHI 3 ***3days off*** ...18 games in a row of make or break games.... @NYY 4 @TOR 3 NYY 4 TOR 4 @TBR 3 (during trade deadline) Then, the schedule gets a bit easier.

  14. Bobby Dee is up to .705, now- just 40 points below Renfroe. Kike climbed to .691 after a good game, today. 15. The worst part is all the uncalled errors. The non plays. There have been many "earned runs" that would not have been with a plus fielding team. Our staff is fragile enough without having their teammates hand the team extra outs. So, where can we find a top lead off hitter with gold glove-type defense, who won't put us over the tax line and won't cost us a top prospect. Nobody? Okay.
  16. Don't forget Tyreque Reed.
  17. Just DFA Santana. That's the start.
  18. I'm still optimistic about 2021, but having a better RP'er in the pen, one that can go 4-6 innings would make me more optimistic.
  19. I'm beginning to think MLB.com is just messing with our minds. Their last Mock Draft from 4 days ago, has several top players available to us at the 4 slot (like the whole top 4 from a few weeks ago!) 1. Marcelo Mayer 2. Kahlil Watson 3. Jackson Jobe 4. Jack Leiter 5. Jordan Lawlar 6. Henry Davis 7. Kumar Rocker 8. Brady House
  20. It's not Santana vs Duran.
  21. We just lost a series to a slumping team. We need to do better vs a slumping Rays. The extra day of rest did not seem to help Eovaldi, today. I doubt an extra 2 days will help ERod vs Rich Hill on Tuesday. We could skip ERod and not have to pitch anyone on less rest, but we won't. It looks like... ERod +2 (days rest) TBR Richards +2 TBR Pivetta +1 TBR Perez +1 NYY Eovaldi +1 NYY ERod +1 NYY If we pushed ERod back... Richards +1 TBR Pivetta TBR Perez TBR ERod +5 NYY Eovaldi +1 NYY Richards NYY
  22. New best team in the AL. It's changing daily. 43-28 HOU (.606) 44-29 OAK (.603) 43-29 BOS 43-29 CWS 43-30 TBR (All 5 teams within a game of each other!) 39-30 CLE 38-33 NYY 38-36 SEA 36-35 LAA 35-35 TOR
  23. He seems to have the smarts and grit, too.
  24. I feel like he's ad a long enough chance, but at that money, maybe we can give him mop up duty and see if he can work his way back to a more meaningful role.
