  1. Yes. I have said, if it's Abreu, it's "sideways." If we trade from pitching depth (or Bello) I'll make the grade a plus (above C+)
  2. Why do you worry about what I worry about? 🤪
  3. Why do you call it "worry?" I look at our roster and try to figure out who is likely to play the most and at what positions. It's fun for me. I don't think it comes close to "worry." I happen to think Duran is the worst defensive OF'er of the 4 we have, and he's a better hitter than Masa. Both he and Masa are LHBs, so I slot Duran at DH over Masa. No worry- just seeing what I think is the best layout. The idea of Rafaela at 2B is intriguing, but I would not do that to a GG OF'er just so our $18M man can DH near FT. Again, it's not something I worry about.
  4. I wouldn't even trade Duran or Abreu for 4 years of Shaw. (maybe Duran, if they add another peice.)
  5. 5 years ago, we had no 2Bman start more than 43 games at 2B. 6 guys had 9+ GS. 6 years ago was the covid shortened season, and 5 guys started at 2B. Peraza had 24 of 60 GS's. In 2019, Holt started 60 of 162, Chavis 40, Marco 29 and Nunez 21 (4 others started 16) In 2018, we traded for Kinsler, Nunez started 70 games, Holt 49 & Kinsler 37 2017 was the last time someone started over 81 games at 2B. That's a pretty low bar, too. (Pedey started 97.) It's basically been 2B by committee since Pedey in 2017. This is year 9.
  6. They'd have to really like Phillips, which could be possible.
  7. Yup, but who is better at DH? Duran or Masa? If Duran plays OF, what OF sits? (Please don't say Rafaela at 2B.)
  8. Sad, but looks true: MLBTR writes: Boston is seemingly taking a volume approach to second base...
  9. BTV accepts Sandoval, DHam & Phillips for Hoerner. The 1 year of Sandoval helps balance the money Hoerner gets paid. Giving up Phillips might bite us in the ass, later, but Hoerner is the real deal.
  10. Who is the worst defensive OF'er of the 4? Do you think they DH Anthony over Duran? Share the duty? It's hard to know what Cora will do, I agree, but I'd DH Duran every game an OF'er does not need a rest.
  11. 2Bman Brendan Rodgers signed to minor league deal. SEE, I TOLD YOU WE WEREN'T DONE! LOL
  12. He would be an expensive utility guy, but when you have Mayer and Story inches from an IL stint, he's nice insurance.
  13. So, you're not assuming Brez is done?
  14. Nope. He's be watching Anthony make those catches, while sitting on the bench as the DH. (Now, that IS an assumption.)
  15. I think IKF might play 3B v L and Romy plays 2B v L as DHam sits. God, the thought of DHam starting 115 games at 2B is frightening.
  16. If it's Abreu for Paredes and Sousa, it does not help the offense, but if fills a big need, balances the L-R issue and clears the OF logjam. It gives Masa the DH slot and allows for Campbell to be the 4th OF'er and 3rd sting 2Bman, if we choose to stunt his growth by having him on the bench.
  17. I'm 100% on asking this same question. It seems so obvious to everyone. I'm hopeful Brez is thinking the same way.
  18. But that's not an assumption, right?
  19. Well, we could trade a $7.75M Duran or $9.3M Bello for someone like Shaw and get under the 2nd line. We might also be seeking to just stay under the 3rd line, and many deals could meet that limit.
  20. I thought this was an assumption (or opinion) : If Brez had an agreement in place I think it would have been done already.
  21. He could have been a one year wonder, but a repeat of 2025 or somewhere between 2025 and 2024 or 2023 would be fine. He can have a better year than 2025, but I don't expect way better.
  22. Abreu has improved vs LHPs but is still not "good enough." He did pass Duran v L, but it's just one season. I'm most worried about Mayer vs LHPs, but I'm glad we have Romy for that. IKF at .650 could be a major improvement over Mayer, if he's at .550 v L. My next "worry" vs LHPs is Duran not Abreu. I might even put Masa above Abreu,
  23. Of course. Abreu for Paredes is kinda sideways, but does swap a LHB for a RHB, for whatever that adds. Trading Bello & Phillips for Shaw would help the offense. Crawford & DHam for Hoerner, too.
