  1. It's been 17 days, since the last time we were able to even say, "We've won 2 out of 3 games."
  2. Funny how jacko poo-poo'd Sale's recovery while sugar-coating Sev's.
  3. Schwarber forever! Lock him up- longterm!
  4. Do you think his whole career will be like his first 416 PAs? His, D, too? He was actually a decent 3Bman and has seemed to be making more and more good plays at 1B as the season progressed. Maybe he can make or has already made the key adjustments. Only time will tell, and when you're on a contending team, sometimes time is not on your side. Bloom and Cora have been extremely patient with Dalbec, Corder, Marwin and even Santana. Maybe they go oh for 4 on these guys. I, for one, think they overplayed Marwin. I'm done with Santana, too, but I think he deserved a long look, and am not upset about how long a look he was given, as long as he doesn't get another one with us. Cordero is the tougher call. Bobby clearly will get a longer look sometime and somewhere.
  5. He's barely near the 2/3 mark of a 650 PA season. New players need time to adjust and more time to adjust to the adjustments pitchers made to them. Sometimes, that takes time, and sometimes too much time is needed to find out it won't work. It's been extremely frustrating watching Dalbec (and Cordero) struggle, this season. I'm still hopeful but more cautious than ever.
  6. He may end up being a 40 man casualty when Rule 5 comes around, but I seriously doubt it. There are more players with less promise than his, but some are younger, so who knows. I'd give him another long look, or two, but there just may never be an opportunity like that with a winning team.
  7. I loved watching DDs teams, and 2018 was amazingly special, but he left a farm and payroll in a mess as a result of giving us that wonderful window. Some bad luck prevented the window from being longer than just 3 years, but it is what it is. We have been paying the price for that window and still are. I’m fine with that. I thought the price would be greater and longer, but some of the youth DD left behind and Bloom had acquired are brightening up the longer outlook , and 2021 has come out of nowhere to be a very exciting and gritty team to watch. I’m not seeing anybody totally hating on DD. Some of us have been critical of him and some of Henry. I also see some trying to sugar coat what DDs strategy led to and always has led to. Blaming Henry for doing what he’s always done: ordered resets and lower spending from time to time or blaming the GM who happens to be at the helm during those times for not doing enough or swinging and missing on the few big moves they were allowed to make. All these guys have flaws. They are human. I guess it’s in our nature to pick at the scabs. I for one, am glad add was our GM, and I’m also glad we replaced him with Bloom.
  8. Nice job, old timer. Alll your points look solid. I will add that using your criteria every time will mean we’ll never sign the very best free agents or keep our own. That’s not necessarily a bad thing, but I think there comes a time, maybe twice a decade, where you just need a certain guy so badly, you have to throw some caution to the wind.
  9. Suddenly, this looks hopeful: SP1 Sale SP2 Eovaldi SP3 ERod SP4 Pivetta SP5 Houck RP1 Barnes RP2 Ottavino RP3 Taylor RP4 Whitlock RP5 Richards RP6 Sawamura/ DHern (IL) RP7 Valdez/ Brasier (IL) RP8 Perez/Rios (Davis) 13th and 14th pitchers 1. Kike CF/2B 2. Devers 3B 3. Bogey SS 4. JD DH 5. Schwarber 1B 6. Renfroe RF 7. Verdugo LF 8. Vaz/Plawecki C 9. Arroyo 2B/Duran CF Bench: Plawecki or Vaz Arroyo or Duran Dalbec Cordero (if 13 pitchers) Arauz/Wong/Munoz (if 12 pitchers)
  10. Is this enough to give up on a young player after just 416 PAs in MLB? .236 20 65 (21 2B+3B) Pro-rated to 624 PAs: .236 30 98 (over 100 RBI in 650 PAs) .298 OBP .459 SLG .757 OPS
  11. A's just lost. Toronto or Seattle will lose, tonight.
  12. How about that? Bobby Dee back over .700! Kike up to .790. Plawecki .775. Have we found our new long man? (Richards) Nice game, tonight. 12 Ks 1 BB 7 H 1 ER Welcome back Pivetta (4.20 ERA, now.)
  13. Okay, the context of the argument was what DD leaves with every team. I felt you were speaking to that context. I can't speak much about the Cubs. I do know they had a couple bad deals like Heyward, but very few 2+ year term dead weight deals. I think he didn't leave a great farm, either, but was it bottom 3 or 4 like what DD left Bloom? Honestly, I'm not sure. I was talking DD's MO vs Theo's. I'm sorry for misunderstanding your point.
  14. Peters with a 2 run HR to widen the Rangers lead on the A's to 8-5 in the 7th. The remaining schedule is giving us our shot to make a move. We need to mop up on teams like the O's. Take no mercy.
  15. Theo left Ben a nice farm. He did leave some bad contracts, but it's not even close. Theo's last draft with the Sox got us Betts, JBJ and Barnes. They joined a farm stocked with Bogey and others. He left a budget of about $175M in 2011 with some players coming off the book. DD left Devers and had a payroll or almost $240M in 2018 and over $243 in 2019. I think it's up to you to show why you think they are similar. Please explain the similarities.
  16. I'm not sure, either. I am sure Robles should not be anywhere near Boston, unless he's on the other team.
  17. They will. Their number is up. 70% of their remaining games are vs contenders.
  18. Don't expect two admissions in a single decade.
  19. Big difference between what Theo left the next GM and DD. Nice try.
  20. I'm swimming in happiness for Woo. Does that count?
  21. It's great to see Pivetta step it up. With Perez and Richards losing all hopes for any future rotation duty, we needed Pivetta to come through. Great trade by Bloom, last summer. If we can hold this win for him, the team will be 15-8 in his starts. That 7 win differential is half our games over .500! He only has one start, all year, where he let up more than 4 ERs. He had a 3.78 ERA after 12 games, hit a bit of a rough patch (5.63 in his next 9 starts), but has now gone 2 starts looking like his previous self. 8/7 6 IP 1 H 0 ER 1 BB 6K So far, tonight: 6 IP 3H 1 ER 2BB 8K Welcome back, Nick!
  22. ...and I'm impressed.
  23. LOL! .667 OBP 234 runs scored per 162.
  24. He's not even 7th on the DFA list.
  25. Lots of hard outs tonight.
