  1. Oh, I'm not saying baseball will name Cora MOY. I stopped paying attention to awards long ago. 4 words: Derek Jeter Gold Glove. Nuff said. I'll stick with my own beliefs.
  2. You feeling okay?
  3. I'm in the front seat of the Devers wagon. We need to lock him up. This is not a kid we can lose.
  4. I think ERod's turn-around is the most unnoticed part of the second half of 2021.
  5. We did get fortunate on the injury front, until COVID protocols hit us hard for a stretch. What I find amazing is that no established players, except Eovaldi and Renfroe exceeded expectations. Whitlock pretty much came out of nowhere, but more than these three can be found where one could argue the did not reach 2021 expectations-led by Vaz. We had 56 players on the active roster, at some point, this year. We had 19 batters get over 48 PAs, including some real bomb outs like Marwin (.567), Cordero (.497), Santana (.597), Duran (.578), Chavis (.549) and Arauz (.643). We had 37 players pitch, this year, 21 over 12 IP. We had 18 pitchers with 20+ IP. Four of our SP'ers with more than 60 IP had these ERAs: 5.22 Richards 22 GS 4.77 Perez 22 GS 4.77 ERod 31 GS 4.56 Pivetta 30 GS Our pen saw Barnes implode as badly as about anybody ever has. Out of our top 16 RP'ers by IP (12+), only 3 had a WHIP below 1.350. Six of those 12 had a WHIP over 1.450. Yes, MOY. Period.
  6. Congrats! Who was the other poster to pick the winning choice?
  7. ERod did okay after the deadline: 6-2 3.26 (3.07 FIP) despite the .353 BAbip. He actually turned it around in mid June. 6.07 ERA in first 13 starts. 3.66 ERA next 18 starts.
  8. It's called hypothetical thinking. We do know Pivetta is not starting the Yankee game, so when you commented on us not knowing if Pivetta was going to the pen, that wasn't about the Yankee game. Everybody is "in the pen" for the Yankee game, except for the starter, Eovaldi, right?
  9. I was joking. I think we know Eovaldi, ERod and Sale are starters. We might not need a 4th starter until game 4 vs TBR. I think Houck & Pivetta are the 2 choices. I guess we could go with the 1st game starter (ERod?) on short rest, if we are down 2-1 in game 4. Simple thoughts- no overthinking anything.
  10. This is just my take. Stop overanalyzing. (LOL) Pivetta may start, instead of Houck, and maybe we use Houck as one of our closers. Next game is an elimination game, and we'll likely see another elimination game in the ALDS, so it's hard to know what roles our pitchers will have in the next week.
  11. I said the same thing and was laughed at by a few apparent Sox fans.

  15. We ended up with the 7th best record in MLB. 1 game from the 6th best (CWS). 2 games from the 4th best (HOU & MIL tied). Think about that: w ins away from having the 4th best record in MLB. This doesn't change the fact that we have some serious flaws on this team, but let's celebrate a season well-played!
  16. Woo wins 10-1. Seabold 5 IP 4H 1ER 2BB 0K Duran 3-5 Casas 2-6, 2B Ja. Lopez 3-3
  17. Sox get the 24th pick, next draft. (The Mets get the 11th pick for not signing Rocker.) We may get a comp pick after the first round, if we offer ERod a QO and he refuses it.
  18. They did just that, and so many didn't think we could.
  19. OCT 5 NYY @ BOS 8:08 pm (ESPN) OCT 7 WC winner @ TBR OCT 8 WC winner @ TBR OCT 10 TBR @ WC winner OCT 11 TBR @ WC winner OCT 13 WC winner @ TBR OCT 15 ALCS Game 1 Assuming we beat the Yanks, this might be how our pitching lines up: Off v NYY Eovaldi Off @TBR ERod @TBR Sale (Houck) Off v TBR Eovaldi v TBR Houck (Sale) Off @TBR ERod
  20. We used to be the comeback kids, so it was nice to see a bit of a flashback.
  21. I'd say... 1) ERod refuses the QO and we get a comp pick. 2) JD does not opt out. 3) Schwarber, Ottavino, Robles and some lesser players go to free agency. 4) We do not take the options on Richards or Perez, but we do take Vaz's $7M option. 5) We sign 4 moderate free agents and a few low cost scrubs. I'm thinking we may look at but not hand away the 3 players set to be free agents after 2022: Bogey JD Vaz (Hard to count on even one of these happening.) Bringing Iggy, Shaw or Robles back might happen. Where we slot Whiltock and Houck are slotted in the staff is a bit up in the air, here is the foundation for 2022: SP1. Sale SP2. Eovaldi SP3. Whitlock SP4. Pivetta SP5. Seabold RP1. Houck RP2. Taylor RP3. Barnes RP4. DHern RP5. Brasier RP6. Sawamura RP7. Valdez RP8. Davis/Bazardo C Vaz, Plawecki 1B Dalbec, Casas 2B Arroyo, Arauz 3B Devers SS Bogey LF Verdugo, Duran/Cordero CF Kike RF Renfroe DH JD My guess is we sign a solid #2 SP'er, #4 SP'er, Set-up man & Utility Infielder (Iggy?). That would create this: S1. Sale S2. ____ S3. Eovaldi S4. ____ S5. Pivetta (Seabold) R1. Houck R2. Whitlock R3. _____ R4. Barnes R5. Taylor R6. DHern R7. Brasier R8. Sawamura R9. Valdez/Davis/Bazardo C Vaz, Plawecki 1B Dalbec, Casas 2B Arroyo, _____ (Iggy?) 3B Devers SS Bogey LF Verdugo, Duran/Cordero CF Kike RF Renfroe DH JD
  22. More specifics on #4 would be nice.
  23. Sounds about right.
  24. The Rule 5 Whitlock pick up helped. Only Sawamura and Kike were more than 1 year deals.
