  1. No. I said "stance." Players that crouch, should not have smaller strike zones. It should be based on height or actual measurements between 2 points of every player's bodies, as players with the same height make have different measurements between the knees and letters.
  2. It should not be based on batter stance, though.
  3. So, basically, 12 guys. That makes room for the 7 Rule 5 and 4 free agents. Sounds about right- no roster crunch.
  4. Interesting points. Maybe they measure every player and feed the dimensions into the computer, or just go with 1 set strike zone or 2-3 based on your official height.
  5. That looks about right. Let's assume we protect those 7. Here's how the 40 man might shake out before any FAs are signed. Assume we keep Vaz & Richards options, JD does not opt out and ERod receives and accepts the QO. We lose Perez (option declined), Ottavino, Santana, Robles, Shaw and Iggy. With 8 players currently on the IL and not counting towards the 40 man roster, and us having 39 listed, now, we will actually be at 41 before adding those 7. That means 8 players will have to be traded or DFA'd to make it 40, and that's before we add anyone as a free agent. Who might those 8+ players be? (I think some added for COVID do not need to be DFA'd to be kept in our system.) Michael Feliz Jack Lopez Geoff Hartlieb Yairo Munoz Borderline: Jesson Rosario Hudson Potts Austin Davis Yacksel Rios Trade? Brasier Arauz Plawecki/Hernandez/Wong (1) Cordero
  6. Yes, you guys are right. A team selecting Ward would have to keep him on the 26 man active roster, even if on the IL. It looks like a good way for us to keep him without having to rule 5 protect him, this year.
  7. I think the rectangle is useful, but we have to realize it is not perfect. Balls that are breaking, and even fastballs are falling and will hit the catcher's glove lower than where it goes over the plate. We can also see that pitches that hit the same spot are sometimes called ball and sometimes strikes.
  8. At least MIN has shown it can beat TOR, unlike the yanks.
  9. It makes it easy for a team to select him in Rule 5. Keep him on the 40 man roster (taking a slot from someone else), but then putting him on the 60 day IL to start the season and opening back up a 40 man slot for most of the year.
  10. Rule 5 candidates: Lock: Bello Downs V Santos Probable: Winckowski Jimenez (not close to ML ready, but big talent) Crawford Maybe: Feltman German T Ward Granberg T Reed Dearden Ort Esplin Cottam C Brannen Schreiber AJ Politi Padron-Artiles
  11. He'll may start in AAA, next spring and maybe earn a shot in the bigs, if he does well. soxprospects has him starting in AA. Here is their projected rotations: Rule 5 in RED AAA: Seabold, Crawford, Winckowski, German, Espinal AA: Bello, Groome, Murphy, Santos, Gambrell/Van Belle A+: Walter. Blalock, Wu-Yelland. Drohan, Liu A-: W Gonzalez, Olds, Encarnacion, de la Rosa, Loubier/Rodriguez No Ward listed anywhere.
  12. Today's games: BAL (Akin) @ BOS (Seabold?) CLE (Plesac) @ NYY (Kluber) MIN (Pineda) @ TOR (Ryu) Saturday: BAL (Lowther) @ BOS (Pivetta) CLE (Civale) @ NYY (Gil) MIN (Ober) @ TOR (Matz) Sunday BAL (Wells) @ BOS (ERod) CLE (Morgan) @ NYY (Cole) MIN (???) @ TOR (???)
  13. One game at a time. Peddle to the metal!
  14. Exactly. Just take care of our own business.
  15. Or, we could gain 1 or 2 on both.
  16. O’s win in 10!
  17. O’s beat the Yanks in 10! See, the loss column leads sometimes can be bad.
  18. So, we won’t be means tested.
  19. Those late 60's early 70's teams had some great defenders and a few great O & D players like Yaz, Lynn, Evans, Fisk, Petrocelli, G Scott, Smith, Miller, Burleson but also... Luis Aparicio Rick Miller Doug Griffin Mike Andrews
  20. I remember that Nick Punto trade like it was yesterday!
