  1. True, but I won't miss them. They'll still be standing there, as always- making the calls from an earpiece, and making calls at the plate. Some will remain clowns- some not so much- some respectable.
  2. I'm not hoping we sign any of these guys. I want us to sign Iggy and spend every other penny of our spending budget on pitching, pitching, pitching.
  3. I doubt Biaz makes $25M a year, but he may get close. I doubt they sign a SS, too. We have bigger priorities. The only things in favor of a signing is the Bogey can opt out in a year, this season is loaded with top SSs, and the last one to sign might not make all that much, AND we could use a FT 2Bman. I'd rather we spend on pitching, but if we do spend big on an everyday player, I'd prefer Baez to Schwarber or an OF'er.
  4. Even a program that misses eephus pitches is vastly greater than the clown brigade calling balls and strikes, now.
  5. He had a better year in 2019, but I agree. I keep mentioning him, because I know Bloom was interested in him, last winter. I think out best target, other than pitching, is Baez. He may be the cheapest of all the "top" SSs and has a nice glove. The GG winning SS can play 2B and 3B, too. From 2018-2021, he put up these numbers on offense: .270/.311/.508/.819 Per 650 PAs .270 33 100 (82 XBH/ 17 SB) As a comp: Bogey .299 28 104 (74 XBH/ 7 SB) Correa .266 27 98 (60 XBH/2 SB) T Story .281 32 91 (77 XBH/ 25 SB) Semien .264 27 80 (68 XBH/ 11 SB) Seager .224 29 92 (61 XBH/ 4 SB)
  6. Depends what you get back. Trading away 6 years of Downs and Duran for someone like Mountcastle with 5 years makes sense. For someone like Montas (2 years), I'd still do it, but I get your point.
  7. And, although Renfroe is not very good on D, despite his arm, he seems better than Duran on D and O, at this time.
  8. If Schwarber returns, he and JD are the 4th oFers
  9. Agreed, unless they deal Bogey. I just said who I preferred. I’d also prefer Biaz to Schwarber, even at a higher cost.
  10. I’m not aggravated. I’m amused.
  11. It won’t be easy to improve the defense without trading or shuffling positions. I do think we may see improvement from Dalbec and Devers, and if Kike can play FT CF, that will be a plus there. 2B is the easiest position to bring in outside help without messing with other positions. I like Arroyo, but his health is always in question. Bringing back aight makes a lot of sense, even if he hits under .700. I’m thinking next year might be the best time to upgrade defense. Well know more about Devers, Dalbec, Casas and where Bogey will be. We may lose Kike, but maybe not.
  12. Clearly no clue. Obviously you care enough to keep reading and responding.
  13. Ask your grand kids. They can probably figure it out for you.
  14. Semien or Baez is a better idea.
  15. Too bad you don’t care about anything I say.
  16. Agreed. There was no final botched play loss, but there were missed plays that led to many runs.
  17. Your posts are so informative. It must be nice being you.
  18. The D was a factor, too- just not all that blatantly obvious. Kike’s dropped flyball was pretty big. Maybe Schwarber could have got the runner out at home.
  19. His senses will tell him to dump the clown umps. Breaking balls in the strike zone will be called strikes. No system will be adopted that misses that. Tell that to your grandkids and see what they say.
  20. If he could only catch the balls none of our fielders could glove!
  21. I've ragged and ragged about the Sox D all year long. Here is a rundown of some numbers. Our BAbip was an astronomical .324. The next team was at .304 and most teams were below .290. That, alone, shows just how severe it was. Our pitching might have been top 3 had we had a .290 BAbip. AL Rankings (15 teams) 10th Fangraphs Def 8th DRS 7th UZR/150 (12th in range) By position 4th LF (1st DRS) 5th SS (10th DRS) 6th CF (7th in DRS) 6th 2B (4th DRS) 9th RF (7th DRS) 10th C (6th DRS) 12th 3B (14th DRS) 14th 1B (15th DRS)
  22. Don't you just love when a cornerback masters an uncallable pass interference? Man, that is great football! Too bad basketball players can't master uncallable personal fouls. That would really strengthen the game.
  23. It happening in other sports does not mean jack. How is what Frank told you a supporting argument? Is it something you felt should be part of the game? Improves the game from the player of fan's perspective? To be honest, I'd like a "full volume" strike zone system, I'll take anything that establishes a consistent strike zone, where pitchers and batters know what will be called a strike and what won't be. and making it as close to what is generally considered a strike now and what is not. If a 2-D system is all they can come up with, I'll still take that a million times over what we have now- an human who is blinded from much of the plate by the catcher in front of him and can't even see the full 3-D volume of the strike zone. What we are asking of the home plate is nothing short of absurd Saying, "It adds a human element" does not cut it for me. To know we can fix it and deciding not to is nothing short of insanity, IMO.
  24. Yes, and it would be very rare for a bouncing ball to reach the K zone.
  25. Your sarcasm is not detectable, Mr. ARod.
