  1. If they are going to pay players on performance, is HRs or BA or OPS or DRS better?
  2. What have you provided other than illusions?
  3. How many reached even 75% of expectations?
  4. I hear you. The idea was Sale would replace Wacha or Hill, and Paxton the other. While having Houck and Whitlock start fix that problem, I'm not sure the pen can withstand the loss of both. Adding Hill and Wacha to the pen might work, but maybe not.
  5. I'd be fine, if someone came up with some sort of formula that beats the two WARs or is even comparable, but I'm waiting for someone to offer a better choice. Crickets...
  6. I just did, and it was you who called it a "myth." Tell us why.
  7. Can anyone defend another stat or metric?
  8. I have to admit, I was one of, if not the first to give up on the 2019 team. I caught some flack for that, but I think it was at least after Memorial Day. Sometimes, you just get a gut feeling- good or bad- on that year's team. I can't tell much about this one, so far, and with Sale, Paxton and Taylor due back, at some point, and the short ST'ing, so much seems up in the air.
  9. Got any proof? We're talking FA RP'er, right? Biggest RP'er contracts 20-21 54/3 L Hendricks 18/2 Treinen 16/2 T May 13/2 P Baez 11/1 Rosenthal 11/1 Hand 19-20 40/3 W Smith 34/4 Pomeranz 24/3 W Harris 14/2 C Martin 11/1 D Hudson 11/1 Betances 10/1 Treinen 18-19 43/3 Kimbrel 39/3 Britton 30/3 Familia 27/3 Ottavino 25/2 A Miller 25/3 J Kelly 23/2 D Robertson 18/2 Herrera 15/2 Soria 10/2 J Wilson 17-18 52/3 W Davis 28/2 M Minor 27/3 B Shaw 27/3 J McGee 21/2 Morrow 18/2 T Hunter 17/2 Nicasio 17/2 A Reed 16/2 Neshek 15/2 J Smith 14/2 Swarzak 14/1 G Holland 13/2 Cishek 11/2 Gregrson 16-17 86/5 Chapman 80/5 Jansen 62/4 Melancon 31/3 Cecil 19/3 Dunn 16/2 Ziegler 12/2 Wood & Tazawa 11/2 Rzepczynski, D Hudson & Casilla I know the top FA SP'ers have often failed, too, but show me they failed more than these clowns!
  10. I'm always for upgrading the rotation, but some of these prices are just beyond overpays. BTW, we are paying a lot for our starters: $25.6 Sale $17.0 Eovaldi $10.0 Paxton $7.00 Wacha $5.00 Hill $2.65 Pivetta That's over $67M. If you count Price's $16M, we're at $83M, which is over a third of our total player budget of about $225M.
  11. I realise many starters “miss” too, but so do more good RPers. Even the really good ones underperform, too often. Are you saying we should pay for a top closer?
  12. Relievers are too hit and miss. I prefer spending on starters.
  13. Awards? LOL! OPS ignores defense and running and double counts some achievements. To me, an average of bWAR and fWAR looks to be as good or better than anything else.
  14. I wish we’d spend on one good starter instead of three questionable ones.
  15. Who? Swihart? He doesn't count.
  16. I get that, but again, if they are going to base anything on performance, what is currently out there as a better option?
  17. A solid connection is rare, as usually the pitcher is back-tracking and or ducking.
  18. I get that, but if they do run with this, any measure they choose will be flawed and criticized.
  19. Who is saying the world is ending?
  20. bWAR and fWAR are not just one stat, but your point is still well-taken. The problem is, if you are going to tie pay to performance, you have to use something to measure the full value of a player.
  21. I used to think he was a troll, but it's clear he's just an idiot.
  22. WOR lost 10-8 Fitzy hit his 5th Casas hit his 4th Y Sanchez hit his 3rd Stewart hit his 2nd (Nobody has 2+ hits, but Ramos walked 3 times, Downs, Cordero & Sanchez walked twice.) 25. Had hopes there, at the end, but no such luck.
